I am very sad to announce the sale of my 95. This is a pretty rare car (only 35 licensed examples remaining in the UK according to www.howmanyleft.co.uk ) which still serves as practical everyday transport. These cars are incredibly well built with a reputation for reliability and safety, and surprisingly spirited performance from the Ford 1500cc V4 engine (especially with the Weber carb). The front wheel drive layout makes them surefooted on the road and particularly good in snow and wet weather. The brakes are good too, with servo assisted disks up front. This is my second V4 and it's been very fun to own and drive but I've recently purchased a VW T2 and with 2 other retro motors this has to go.
The car is tax exempt, insurance is cheap and it also qualifies for cheap parking permits. I've found parts availability to be fine, with Ford mechanicals and plenty of Saab specialists out there.
The car has been well cared-for throughout its life, and proved reliable in my ownership. It runs well and drives very nicely. It has covered around 130,000 miles but at some point had a replacement engine fitted. The engine and gearbox are both strong. It has a recent electric fuel pump and in my ownership has been fitted with electronic ignition and a brand new Weber 34ICH carburettor.
As the title states, the car has 7 seats. In this particular 95 all are fitted with seatbelts. I upgraded the rear belts to modern 3 point belts to enable me to fit child seats in the back. It's a great family classic - the original people carrier!
Bodywork is solid and largely original. The original paint is very faded - I like it that way. There's no filler anywhere on the car and previous welding repairs (only one or two) have been done to a very high standard - no nasty patches or dubious looking underseal on this car. There are a couple of areas of rust which will require attention sooner rather than later but nothing too horrible. Unlike some examples the car has nothing to hide, and I think you will struggle to find a more solid 1973 car at this sort of money.
If it sells for the asking price I will include some spares that I have accumulated over my ownership. These include a full set of wheels with good tyres, repair panels for the tailgate, and the original, working FoMoCo carb and air filter plus various useful service parts.
