1973 metallic pale blue / green NSU Ro80 with original rotary engine showing 46,793 miles.
I am just the 4th owner of this car, bought form the previous owner who bought it in 1978 as a 5 year old car! I bought it in May of 2014 after it had been stored in a barn (genuinely!) for at least 25 years. I wanted to recommision it and get it road legal and MOT'd to give as a gift to my dad for all the help he had given me over the years tinkering with old cars (mainly unusual cars like the Ro80), however sadly my dad passed away after a bout of illness back in July and I never had the opportunity to give him the car, I hadn't even told him about it as it was to be a surprise.
After months of not being able to think clearly, I have decided I want to sell it on to someone who can finish what I have started.
The Good:-
Relatively low mileage, orginal engine, which runs.
Really really solid bearing in mind it is 41 years old.
(I have done all necessary MOT welding)
No accident damage.
No sunroof = less chance of rot.
Alloys
Original instruction manual, pouch and keys.
V5 in my name, will be tax exempt when the car is MOT'd and ready for the road.
Beautiful colour!!!
The not so good:-
Needs an exhaust silencer, I have tracked one down so can pass on details.
Carbs need rebuilding, car runs, but is difficult to start and petrol leaks where the gaskets are poor.
Brakes need looking at as you would imagine bearing in mind the cars slumber period.
Paint is scruffy, roof, bonnet and boot / rear panel are original paint, both sides have been repainted, there are numerous chips and scratches, plus a few small dinks.
All in all a lovely project which needs no structural welding, needs some time looking at the carbs and brakes, plus the o/s front CV boot needs to be replaced, I have one the nearside one already, which is an easy enough job.
I do not want to swap the car, just sell it.
I have some correct colour paint mixed up which will go with the car.
Will obvuisly need to be trailed away, happy to answer any questions, or chat about the car, I do think these are some of the most advanced looking cars of their time PLUS they are so well built and it has been a pleasure to work on, but the real reason for me purchasing this car has sadly gone.
Car located North of Great Yarmouth, in Winterton on sea. It is garaged, so you are welcome to view evenings, or at weekends if that helps. Jack it up, have agood poke around and see it warts and all!
Here is a link to a video of the car running -
(it is loud, really loud, bear in mind there is no exhaust fitted from the downpipe back!!!
Just looking to get my money back!!!
Thanks for looking!
