Looking to sell my Sapphire 1.8 lx,
she's an auto with a cvh and 90k on the clocks (will go up as in daily use)
has no service history but bought off an elderly lady who bought it off of a mechanic, it has clearly been looked after from the condition of the car now being nearly 26 years old! She's mot'd until june (i think).
apart from the dent in the picture she's very tidy, has had no visable welding, there is only a 20p sized piece of rust on one of the rear arches and a little bit on one of the rear doors. She doesn't leak, the sunroof works, all electrics are fine.
The engine sometimes takes a bit of cranking to start, it has NEVER failed to start on me even with the recent cold weather and doing a fair bit of town driving.
The temp gauge, when engine is at normal running temp is reading on the upper end of the scale, it never reaches red and i believe its just a sensor with high resistance causing a shoddy reading, i've driven this on 400 mile trips without any issue (45mpg is achievable on the motorway due to long 4th gear, obviously around town it isnt great.)
Since owning the car I've given it a full service, replaced both rear wheel bearings, shoes and wheel cylinders.
the interior is immaculate, everything works, the seats are comfortable and supportive with no rips or tears.
She's been an absolute joy to own/drive and an appreciating classic, if i had a place to park her up in the dry and sell in ten years i would because this is going to be worth some money, assuming nobody turns it into a banger racer..
There is a cambelt, waterpump and thermostat in the boot which i was ready to fit more as a precaution than anything else.
looking for £900 £750 which for an old ford with no welding needed and less than 100k is a bargin! p/x considered try me.
Car is located in weston super mare
On a serious note, a number of people have been moaning on facebook that "ten years ago i could buy one of these for £100"
I don't care how much they USED to be worth, these are getting rare especially in this condition.
Also, banger racers. If you want to pay £200 and smash it into a box look elsewhere.
