Here is a cheap car which i bought as a stop-gap while my VW was having extensive work done before it's MOT.
It was an ebay purchase a few weeks ago, and i have used it for my commute since - now my car is fixed i don't need it any more.
The reason i bought this as a cheap runaround is because i'm a bit of a Saab fanatic and when i saw this on ebay it looked perfect for what i needed so i bought it.
The previous owner was not entirely honest in his advert, listing good and bad points - failing to mention the more important bad points! This was really annoying but seeing as it was a stop gap for me i didn't really care - you might not care either and just use it for the same purpose, or you might want to spend a little bit of time and money making it spot on - to help with potential buyers decision i will try and list everything i can see thats good and bad about the car, i've got no problem in answering any questions but please remember its a car with a long MOT for less than 400 quid!
So, it's R reg, in blue, the nice looking 3 door coupe model - it has the 2.0 non turbo engine which as some will know can go on forever and ever!
131,000 miles on the clock
Since i have had the car it has started first time every time
Digital trip computer with MPG, range, temp etc - not bad considering it's age!
Electric windows and all other electrics working fine
Not bad mpg, i've been averaging 35 with mixed driving
MOT Sept 15
2 New tyres on the front - put on a couple of weeks before i purchased apparently - and the rear ones have bags of tread left
Bad points - both those the previous owner mentioned in the ebay ad and also those he neglected to tell of- when i spoke to him after a slightly disappointed drive home, he couldn't believe what i was saying and didn't find the same problems with the car as me - maybe i'm just fussy but i think it's fair i tell any potential buyers exactly what they would be getting - if they weren't a problem for the previous owner, they probably wont be for you either especially as it's so cheap - but cheap or not you want to know what you're spending your money on:
Drivers seat doesn't bend forward to let rear passenger in - although passenger seat works fine,
Reverse can be a little stubborn - i had the same thing with my old 9-3 convertible, you may have to take one or two attempts to get reverse, or change quickly from another gear. It works fine though and doesn't crunch - i lived with this on my 9-3 for 2 years and it never got worse, but didn't get better either.
The heater knob sometimes falls off - just needs a bit of superglue, but works fine
Exhaust has a bit of a blow - previous owner didn't notice apparently but i did and i'm sure you would too! It's not that bad and i haven't taken any notice of it since it was just a stop gap - might just be a loose bracket or heatshield making the noise i don't know.
The clutch is very heavy - it works fine, doesn't slip, the gearbox is nice and smooth, perhaps it's just the pedal but it's definitely something i noticed - it may not be an issue as the bloke i bought it from didn't notice it...
Coolant level warning sometimes comes up on digital display telling you to top it up - the levels are fine so must be a fauly sensor
Allegedly the wheel alignment was done when the previous owner got the new tyres fitted - but i find this impossible to believe as the wheel alignment is horrendous and definitely needs doing
It needs a ruddy good clean
If this was a turbo model i may of kept it and sorted the niggles out, but it's not so i've decided to sell, as is.
Reasonable offers welcome, although not in a massive hurry to sell
Located just outside Daventry, Northamptonshire - ten mins off the M1 J15 or 18.
