EQUIPMENT
Wide opening doors, concealed ventilation slots, soft-touch door handles, laminated windscreen, panoramic safety glass, crumple zones, anti-burst locks, halogen headlamps with integral foglamp, height adjustable driver’s seat, rear central armrest, noise-dampening package, twin-nozzle windscreen washer, large padded steering wheel, magazine nets, lockable glove compartment, driver’s left foot rest, interior light switch delay, ‘lights on’ buzzer, warning triangle, central locking, lamp in rear, oil pressure gauge, quartz-crystal clock, first aid kit. Factory options; Automatic transmission with Tempomat, steel sliding sunroof.
EXTERIOR
This elegant and refined Mercedes-Benz is finished in Astral Silver, (code 735) and displays a very presentable shine and uniform finish. The vehicle is structurally solid and all panels are straight with linear gaps. There are numerous minor dings, scuffs and markings to the paintwork and trim, commensurate with a 32 year old condition three example. A light knock to the lower rear valance has left it slightly misshapen and a section of chrome window trim to the N/S has a crease. The bonnet has small pimples on close inspection. All trim pieces and glass sections are intact and the rubber seals are in good order with minor cracks. The chrome bumpers are in remarkable order with no damage or corrosion present. The factory standard engine bay remains clean and unmolested as does the boot area housing the full size spare wheel. An attractive iconic classic Mercedes design that has worn its age well!
INTERIOR
Wide opening pillar-less easy close doors give easy access which is finished in Mercedes Blue fabric, (code 032). The upholstery is in fair condition, very clean but showing age related wear to the front seats mainly. The anatomically shaped seats are contoured and extensively adjustable to fully support the body and offer optimum comfort. The high quality deep pile blue carpets are clean and in good order, as are the matching door cards, headlining and fascia with spotless wood cappings. Some trim items are damaged such as the side plastic seat covers. All functions and controls operate well aside from the rear quarter windows which are temperamental. The Mercedes-Benz first aid kit is still preserved in the original polythene wrapping and housed correctly in the rear shelf stowage hatch. A commanding driving position behind the huge padded steering wheel, this comfortable classic coupe simply exudes style!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The four-cylinder in-line engine with fuel injection produces 136bhp and has tremendous torque low in the engine speed range offering relaxed and flexible power delivery. Incredibly smooth thanks in part to fine engineering of all moving parts but also to an additional vibration damper on the crankshaft it offers sheer cruising pleasure. The optional four-speed torque convertor automatic transmission is seamless in operation. A minor exhaust blow is detectable from outside but does not intrude into the cabin or sully the driving experience.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Steel wheels with original chrome Mercedes-Benz hubcaps, colour coded, remain on the car. The hubcaps have a few markings. Quality 195/70 R14 tyres have excellent tread remaining. Dual-circuit power braking system with front brake pad wear indicators give the car a steady and assured feel as you would except from Mercedes-Benz.
HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 26th May 1982 by Mercedes Benz main dealer Woking Motors Ltd of Surrey, this example has had just three former keepers. Two service books display many service stamps from the supplying main dealer and independent specialists and give an insight to the maintenance this car has enjoyed. A huge history file with masses of main dealer and specialist invoices along with almost every MOT certificate from new fully document the 133,796 miles covered. The original handbooks, service records and build cards accompany the history file.
