A delightfully rare Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 TI with just 14,212 miles from new.
EQUIPMENT
Impact absorbing construction, deformity resistant passenger compartment, stainless steel bumpers, bumper overriders with rubber inserts, heat and sound insulation, two speed wipers, foot-operated washers, anti-theft ignition system, hand throttle control, brightwork to windows, bright door handles, quarter light openers, side repeaters, armrests, tachometer, oil and water temperature gauges, grab handles, wood effect fascia, courtesy lamps, lockable glovebox, twin sunvisors.
EXTERIOR
The iconic Giulia saloon shape, a once common sight on the roads of Italy but perhaps more recognisable elsewhere as the hapless police cars from original film ‘The Italian Job’ This classic Alfa Romeo is finished in the gorgeous rich colour of Faggio Rosso (code 516). The deep shade of red boasts a glossy uniform finish with only faint hairline scratches and minor blemishes, truly remarkable for a 44 year old unrestored example. Structurally perfect and showing no corrosion to the panels whatsoever, this cherished example is an incredible survivor. Close inspection reveals a small ding to the front valance, offside rear sill and nearside front door rib, barely noticeable and utterly insignificant. The stainless steel bumpers, overriders and other brightwork are in pristine order and compliment the dark paintwork beautifully. All rubber trim sections are in excellent order and the factory etched glass and lights are intact and damage free. An immensely useable and enjoyable Alfa Romeo, for those who dare to be different!
INTERIOR
The original interior of this wonderful Alfa Romeo is outstanding and worthy of the term ‘timewarp’. The factory original upholstery is trimmed in luxurious washable Texalfa material to the front bucket style seats and rear bench, and the tan fabric is completely free from wear and discolouration. The matching vinyl door cards are pristine and the original rubber floor coverings are in excellent order. Typical Alfa Romeo styling characteristics are throughout with beautifully machined door furniture and ornate trims sections. The perfect three spoke steering wheel is an item of sheer beauty and craftsmanship. The quality but delicately designed switchgear is fully functional and intact, as is the fascia itself. Two very minor imperfections in the form of a slightly distorted wood effect trim section and the headlining being lightly discoloured to the edges do not detract from this stunning cabin space. The epitome of Italian flair and design preserved for all to marvel.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The light alloy four cylinder in-line unit in this 1300 TI model features two overhead camshafts and a vertical twin-choke carburettor. Displacing 1290cc, this 94bhp unit fires promptly at the turn of the key and delivers quiet yet eager performance. Completely unmolested from the factory, the manual choke and hand throttle control remain fitted and operate perfectly. Matching the engine exactly is the original five speed all-synchro gearbox, the only saloon car in its power bracket at the time to feature five forward speeds! A truly delightful driving experience and one not to be missed.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Five immaculate pressed steel wheels remain as factory fitted and are graced with the original stainless hubcaps showcasing beautiful Alfa Romeo detailing. The caps show only very faint age related markings. Four quality Michelin MX 165 R14 tyres have excellent tread remaining. Housed alongside the spare wheel is the original factory tool roll and warning triangle. A further advancement for the year and this class of vehicle is the all-round disc braking system with servo assistance to offer excellent stopping power.
HISTORY FILE
A wonderful history file for an equally special car. Registered new on 3rd April 1970 in Milan, this example has spent to majority of its life in Italy under the care of its elderly and utterly devoted owner. The original Carta Di Circolazione Per Autovettura or ‘Card of Movement for Automobile’ is fully stamped with many service entries to trace the incredibly low mileage of 22,873km (14,212 miles) and provides an insight to the cherished care and maintenance this car has enjoyed. Majority dealer stickers are neatly placed in this book.
Having remained in its native Italy until 2010 before being driven to the UK, the car has since had just two keepers. The history file consists of all the import documents as well as the UK V5 document, along with all UK MOT certificates. An original handbook and shop manual complete the history file and a sales brochure is included for enjoyment.
MOT January 2016, Tax Exempt, HPI Clear, Approved Used Car Certificate.
