Anyone had any experience of getting petrol spilled on metal and noticed how long it took to evaporate?
I sold a petrol tank on eBay the other day, it had been out of the car and drained for about three weeks, maybe more. The seller has sent me photos today that show a damp spot on the neck that he says is evidence of a petrol leak so he wants his money back.
I'm certain there was no leak so I don't know how petrol (if that's what it is) got onto the outside of the tank but also I'm wondering how the petrol could not have evaporated in the three weeks it's been sitting around drained.
I remember getting fuel everywhere while draining it so I guess that could account for the fuel being on the outside but I'd have expected it to evaporate while it was sitting around.
He's raised a case with eBay which pretty much means I'm getting done over but if there's an easy way to disprove his allegation I'd love to hear about it.
