Right I hadn't planned to sell this on at all as I love it, but a good friend of mine has told me he is selling his mint 525i Sport which I have lusted after for several years and that he would do me a good deal on it! Therefore... if I can sell this for a decent price I can look at buying his car. Absolutely no other reason other than this and if it doesn't sell I'll hang on to it and pass on my friends BMW.
Retro cool two tone exclusive eightiesness at its finest!
And a picture of the ZX Executive alloys included at asking price;
I acquired this 1986 T12 Bluebird Turbo SR a couple of months ago from a guy in Bedford with no MOT. This is the rarer than poor quality wobbly children's play pony leavings Turbo SR model as opposed to the ZX. As far as I can find from research the only main difference between the models is that the SR didnt have a sunroof as standard, although this one has a factory (non leaking one) fitted.
It's plain to see that its had a very easy life - garaged for a large part of it.
Bluebirds have a well-deserved reputation for reliability and this car is no exception; during the time I've owned it, it has never failed to start - even after longer periods of not being used its starts straight away and idles on the dot.
In typical Nissan fashion the spec list for the year is impressive;
Central locking,
4 x electric windows
Electric mirrors
Electrically adjustable drivers seat.
3-stage adjustable intermittent windscreen wipers
Heated rear screen.
Remote boot and fuel filler cap release.
Factory fitted turbo boost gauge
Oil pressure gauge - always sits in the optimum zone.
Water temp and fuel gauges, and fuel light (always handy!)
Puddle lights in all doors
Interior spot lamps.
There's even a tiny light that illuminates the keyhole when you pull the drivers door handle which is very cool!
Fully electric aerial with cool 'up' and 'down' buttons next to the stereo.
Blue Nissan sports seats all round all unripped and in superb condition. Really retro interior which I love!
Original tool kit in the boot and matching alloy spare wheel.
And it all works!
The car is on the original 14 inch turbo alloy wheels, all with good tread on all tyres. For my asking price I will also include a set of extremely rare 15inch executive alloys with caps and tyres (need re-sealing but good) It also has a period radio cassette player although this speakers aren't the best.
The car has been maintained regardless of cost and recent work includes replacement radiator (with the addition of a new fan control unit), brake callipers and brake discs. Just had a new battery. There is a huge stack of history with the car with many MOT's bills/receipts for work carried out including all the work I had done to get it through an MOT.
Parts I replaced include;
Full correct ZX/SR turbo exhaust system from manifold back (correct twin exit pipes)
Several rear bush parts and bulbs with some other items (I can supply a full list wen I have the bill present)
Brand new battery.
All in I spent over £650 on parts and some labour. Mot'd until November 2015.
The owner previous to me had recently replaced the electronic suspension as you cannot get the rear dampers any more it has been converted to normal dampers but the original electronic dampers are included in the boot. They would need refurbishing with new seals and bearings so it could be put back to electronic if really wanted. It has standard 2.0 executive Monroe rear shocks and springs fitted now.
The alternator, distributor cap and arm, handbrake cables and rear brake pads were also recently replaced as well as new aux belts .
The oil is pretty new, I have a new set of NGK spark plugs for it, which are supposedly a type that help with cooler running temps on this engine. This engine can achieve upwards of 200bhp on stock internals with not a lot of money spent (front mount intercooler and T25 turbo) Which is some serious power gains!
The timing belt was changed at 84,000 miles. Car is now on just over 99,000. This is going up daily at the minute as I'm using the car on the M25 every day.
Also included in the sale: original Owner's Handbook, original colour Sales Brochures and Haynes manual. I have two keys for the car. I bought some Turbo 80's decals to go on the lower rear doors which I will include in the sale, I was going to fit once I'd sorted the small amount of rust.
The bodywork is in good condition - with a small amount of rust at the bottom of the rear passenger side door (see pictures). There are general small marks around the car but nothing bad. Sadly someone has jumped on the bonnet and warped it slightly (see pictures). This is noticeable close up but the car is still pretty smart looking. There are a few bonnet around for approximatley £30. I intended to fit and paint another straight bonnet which would cost around £100 all in. Underneath and all arches are solid, my mechanic commented he was very impressed how clean it was. The windscreen has a very small crack and small amount of delamination on the bottom right corner. This doesn't affect the MOT. The headlights have been rewired to make them brighter (they are decent at night)
The car has the same 135bhp 1809cc CA18ET engine as the more common ZX and S12 Silvia. It is smooth and delivers effortless power on demand. Hit the throttle and it gives a good punch of power if wanted! The build quality - being built in Japan is excellent (as you would expect) and I would trust it to drive me anywhere.
The Bluebird turbo is rarely seen on British roads today (and the SR even more so) but you'd be hard pressed to find one in this condition and with such low mileage. Infact you'll be hard pressed to find a Turbo of any type for sale! I think there are only around 17 of the turbo bluebirds left and I ant find any records of another SR being on the road!
I have spent A LOT of money on getting this car to the condition it is in now so I wont let it go for silly cash, it sounds like a line but I really am not desperate to sell and will keep it if I don't get very near my asking price as it owes me more than this. Viewings welcome, any uestions please just ask.
