Yes, I know it's a stupid time of year to be selling a convertible, but I'd rather let it go cheap now than have it sat around all winter doing nothing.
It's an L reg 1.8 in a fetching shade of metallic green. It's been slightly lowered by a previous owner, although nothing too drastic.
It starts on the button and drives well. It has a straight through tailpipe on the exhaust which makes it sound a bit boy racerish, but isn't too overpowering. All the lights, wipers etc work fine, as does the electric roof. It's MOT'd until the end of June next year so the lucky new owner should be able to have a bit of fun in the sun before having to MOT it again.
It does have a few issues:
Three of the four electric windows work fine; the driver's one doesn't. The motor works and it sort of goes up and down, but the regulator needs looking at.
The doors don't lock on the key, although they do lock with the remote fob. Boot works on the key though.
The hood has been repaired at the back. It looks OK though and is watertight. Even the heated rear window works.
The demister fan only works on the highest setting. Probably a dead rheostat.
There is a rip in the driver's seat side bolster in the usual place.
The ABS light goes off when the engine is started, but then when you start driving the ABS system runs a self-diagnostic and puts the light back on. This wasn't an issue at the MOT as it passed the "light goes out" test, but it presumably means that the ABS isn't functional. I don't particularly like ABS anyway so I've not bothered to get it looked at.
It's a bit damp inside at the moment. When I bought it the driver's door wouldn't latch properly - this has now been repaired, but the catch now needs adjusting as the door sits a few mm proud at its rear edge. This isn't an issue most of the time, but a couple of weeks ago we had some heavy rain which was being blown at the car from behind, and it found its way through the gap and into the cabin. I've bought and fitted some extra rubber sealing strips which seem to have done the trick, but unfortunately the weather doesn't get warm enough at the moment to dry it out properly.
The bodywork isn't too bad, but there are a few scratches and scrapes, and the lacquer is peeling on the boot lid. It mostly looks pretty solid, although I've found a tiny bit of grot right on the rear lip of the offside sill where it meets the arch. I haven't looked underneath - my only means of getting under a car is a pair of Halfords ramps, and it's too low to get up them.
So that's all the negative points that I'm aware of, if anyone's still reading. I've probably made it sound like a right heap, but it really isn't that bad. It's reliable and not bad on fuel, and it's reasonably nippy too. The service book is stamped up to 2009 and 114K miles, albeit with a gap between 2004 and 2008. It also has a work history report from the garage which did the MOT, which runs from 2004 to 2013.
