First, I would like to apologise for the size (and quality!)of the pics. Second, this is kind of a follow on from my Retro rides in my neighbourhood thread the other weekend... Almost all of the cars to follow live on the IOW, which is small enought to be considered my neighbourhood Aren't I lucky ;D ? Ok, first a bit of history... I moved to the IOW a couple of years ago, and bought a relatively rusty VW T3 fastback for not too much money to do it (the bug was too small for all my stuff, the Panda now my brothers. I wanted a square but couldnt find one cheap and solid enough). This year, it dramatically failed the MOT, so i've taken out a loan and decided to rebuild it with the help of a local classic car place: IVS restorationsFriendly guys- they are doing pretty much all the work after I stripped the car and got the parts. Anyway, car now looks like this: ^body (karmann cab up top is Roy's-owner, getting IRS and big engine) ^chassis totally re-built inner wing heater channel/inner wing repair. So far, i'm pretty pleased with the results.

And now on to the other stuff being worked on... mini (getting there) and 1302 cab(almost finished) BMW 6 series- this was done, then the paint guy spotted some minor defect in the paint below the trim, so it's going for another blast in the spray booth

Going outside... Ancient Transit, needs a shed load of welding/fabricating/mechanicals, gonna have an awful lot of monet spent on it. Still, it's less common than a VW bay... 1303 cab and jag- awaiting interior, then done Another bug mmm XJ12, also awaiting interior trim 70's 911 karmann ghia coupe- i love this one, paint just perfectly faded IMHO. Interior trashed though

Also working at IVS is Tony- bodywork and welding is his forte. He also has a thing for NSU's His Ro80's The beige one is his daily driver, the blue one is for sale on ebay- bought as a parts car, too good to break i think. I love the crazy thing, but i cant take on another project... Tony's NSU Prinz Another 1 of Tony's I love the hazard tape on the arches ;D White one is roys, orange one is a customer's TT awaiting resto, lots of resto. The roof actually peels away at the top of the rear window last NSU in the paintshop- another customers'

And no Weller eight spokes either! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I love that Ford Thames van (the pre Transit Ford van for anyone who's not a commercial vehicle pervert! ;D) And this is a DKW isn't it? I think those little NSUs are great, like a sort of German take on the Imp, so I'll forgive there being no Imps, well a bit anyway! ;D ;D ;D ;D Acutally almost everything there is either gorgeous, or has the potential to be gorgeous when it's done! Now I'm going to have to mop up all the drool everywhere! ;D ;D ;D ;D

It is a DKW, well done Apologies for the thames/transit mix-up As for wellers... I thought those wheels on the baja were also wellers- 5 spoke instead of 8 I love the little NSU's as well...

Oh, are they Wellers, sorry there! Still no eight spokes! ;D ;D ;D ;D Some of those DKWs had that odd 3=6 engine didn't they? The one that they reckoned could do the same job using it's three cylinders as the average six cylinder engine due to it's unusual design or something, it had few moving parts in the engine too, didn't it? The NSUs are great though aren't they? (Still wouldn't give up my Imps for one, I think the Imps prettier, plus the club support, in the UK anyway, is better, plus an Imp saloon has that handy opening back window which is great for putting stuff in the back if you use your classic as a daily driver, plus it's a great emergency exit if people are parked too close in the Supermarket car park and you can't open the doors, just climb out the back! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D)

thinking about it that the 3=6 would make sense if it were a 3 cylinder 2 stroke, because two stroke fire once every revolution rather that ever other.......

Yup - i'm pretty sure the DKW has a two stroke three cylinder. I can remember being intrigued by this one at Goodwood..... [ftp]http://www.retro-rides.com/gallery.asp?issubmitted=displayimage&imageid=1554&folder=45[/ftp] P.S; how do you get RR gallery pictures to appear on these threads?

Good luck with the rebuild matey. Good to see another Type 3 being kept on the road instead of taking the easy way out and scrapping it. Nice one.

Gotta agree with you there! Having spent most of my Uni days hanging around VolksTech and Funkenblitz I saw a hell of a lot of beautiful dubs down that way! Check out the Funkenblitz website for further proof.
