Nürburgring_24hrs_20140621-22_062 by mwggriffiths, on Flickr I've been lucky enough to get to a tonne of events in 2014: Race Retro, the 72nd Goodwood Members Meet, Le Mans, the Nurburgring 24hrs (pictured above), a load of museums, the Old Timer Grand Prix, the Mopar Euro Nats, the South Staffs Hot Rod Show, the Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble and tonne of local Butty Run and VW shows to name but a few... But I'm never satisfied! I'm always looking for new events to go to! For 2015 I'd love to finally get to a Players show and, after Hotwire's thread, the Le Mans Classic is a must in 2016. How about you lot? What's the one event you're gutted you missed in 2014, and on the flipside which is the one you were most glad you attended?

Gutted I missed : Goodwood Members Meeting, that is an INCREDIBLE event. Looks better than FOS and Revival to be honest. I'm contemplating Goodwood membership just to get tickets for it. Glad I attended : Retro Rides Gathering of course, retro events how they should be, properly diverse range of cars, track action and no noise limits ... but Le Mans Classic is a close second

The only one I couldn't get to is a local bike rally that is so close I walk to it - shame it clashed with some gathering thingy We'll see what happens next year storminthecastle.co.uk/

Was due to go to Ripon Old Cars show and my Dad booked my Mum's 65th Birthday lunch on the same day. I was sat in the restaurant thinking I'd rather be on the showfield.
She doesn't read RR so I think I'm safe.

Keep hearing good things about the Players Classic show, so it's a shame I had to miss that again.
The gathering was in a league of it's own this year so bring on the holiday and the next years show.
Race retro was a brilliant show this year, met my hero Stirling Moss too.
As for small meets, Love my local one at Walton Bridge, went to the first one which started off with around 30 cars and now its pushing on at least 80-90

RRG14 for me. Because I was actually there but it was probably the worst weekend of my life. Got struck down by sickness and the trots in the early hours of Saturday morning. Spent the rest of the weekend in agony. Tried to drive home on Sunday afternoon, nearly blacked out on the motorway. Ended up being scooped off the hard shoulder by paramedics and dropped in a Travelodge just up the road where I had the grimmest night ever. Somehow made it home on Monday and spent the next 4 days in bed.
So yeah, I've got some making up to do for next year!

Dare I ask what you ate on Friday night? Can't remember now. Whatever it was my girlfriend survived unscathed. Thankfully there was loads of portaloos to choose from and they stayed in useable condition while we were there. It's making me feel ill just thinking about it.

Ormskirk Motorfest (which is fab if you've never been). I cocked up my dates and we were on holiday.
RRG alos. I've never been to one and it always either clashes with family hols or is the weekend before or after meaning funds and time are tight. One day though.

Well - dbizzle I never knew about the Concours of Elegance coming Edinburgh next year - thumbs up for that, and that is now firmly etched in my mind, and I shall most definitely be there. I have made provisional arrangements for the Silverstone Classic next year, there are many I'd love to go to, mostly too far away tho !
