I like that one but its a bit shiny. The fact that no one can find one the way i described is a good thing isn't it? Time i did one then. As for them being curse word, i know that BUT isn't that what RR is about? Getting a car that is cr4p in its original form and making a statement with it?

I've owned mine for 18 months now, and I think it's great, as long as you take it at face value. As far as I'm concerned it does everything a daily driver should, and if you just view it as what it is- a modern family car with distinctive styling- then it does what it says on the tin. I like the fact that's it's not trying to cash in on the cult status of a predecessor, but is being honest about the fact that it's got retro-inspired styling and is openly aimed at that market niche.
As for fuel consumption, I get around 30mpg, a Skoda Fabia under the same conditions gave me 34...............

This sounds like a most excellent idea to me. I wanna see it done!
Wouldn't want to own it, for the reasons already mentioned, but +100 karma points for you for taking the plunge.
Now would I be in trouble if I satin'd our family wagon, pinstriped it, whitewalls, the whole shebang? ;D

Combed thru a half-dozen PTC sites, and found hundreds of gallery pics of people's dogs, BBQ photos.....these were the best I could come up with! Seems the PT Cruiser 'scene' is much the same Stateside as it is here.

If that bottom one was satined and the rear end dropped with a bit of pinstriping where the bonnet badge goes it'd work.

If I was in the situation of having to buy a 'family' car I'd go for one like a shot. Prices start at about £3.5k up here.
It's all down to taste but faced with a sea of second-hand pi55-soaked Poxhall Merivas and Citroen Asspickos it would be a no-brainer IMHO.

That is actualy pretty cool for a Peaty Cruiser. If the lights and grill could be made to look a bit less modern it would be a lot better though!

I just want to see one without any fake chrome/stick on flames/murals/flashy things/chav lights/other generic accesorys.
Athough...
I do love how they curse word people off so much! I do secretly hope that they are delibrately sticking all that tat on to make people hot under the collar.... they are probably just blind or something tho
Definalty got potential but you have got to break the mold! The ones so far have only started making micro fractures imo

the ulmate marmite car, love it or hate it. personally i love ours, hate the stuck on bits modded ones, would love a satin black one. mitch me old mate, ours is cheap (to you) and all the retro snobs can funk themselves, its a better option than a mundaino or piccarsole and our auto, when used in manual mode pulls 38 to the gallon.

I've driven a few PTs over here in the USA. The standard PTs handles horriby on uneven road surfaces but get reasonable MPG (It's just a Dodge Neon dressed up with a fancy body after all...) The PT GT Turbo is the car that moves and handles (but not as good as I'd expect!) but MPG is pretty awful as mentioned previously. I thought they were pretty decent cars overall - they are just cute econoboxes at the end of the day. However, like most US Domestic cars they are built to a price and that normally shows in the interior. Here is a review I did a few years back: www.epinions.com/content_110332710532

personally i think they handle pretty tightly, but the seat lets it down as you tend to fall out of them! but then as said they are not a hot rod, just a practical, usable take on retro styling. we don't consider it a rod, just a cool looking daily. once again, those that slag it off probably drive bland curse word and can go stick it up their a*se

We did a supercharged one as a demonstrator for chrysler which unfortunately didnt go any further but was good fun Styling wise, the biggest issue has always been the after thought front bumper straight through the grill Get rid of that, smooth the wings out and put something like `40 Ford (Or even better Willys) round front lights and peep mirrors on it and it would look a whole lot better Smooth it out, steels caps and trim rings with sensible tyres and rake and you`d be getting somewhere I think.... the original show concept was much nicer, just watered down with bumpers etc its a bit of an "Inbetweeny" sort that and I reckon you`ll be on to a winner ;D

I reckon a Boyd Coddington Hot Rod style PT would look ace, Painted in a loud solid colour like bright orange, dechromed, shaved handles, slammed, Billet Ally Big'n'Littles and loads of Billet ally touches like mirrors and interior parts etc!

Well found this thread again and as promised From my collection of PT pics and photographed at billing in 2005 (a wet Billing!!!) Plenty to choose from I think just different wheels and I'm not sure "pram wheels" work Or Spoilers and Street racer wheels PT meets max power (Old max power not new max power) Ugly lights well replace them with "different" ones Surfs up Stars and stripes flames - nicely applied - but not nice I thought I thought this had too many "touches" Less might have been more The boot is pretty small anyway so having the spare wheel on the back makes sense Not sure where this one was going but It was obviously dangerous!!!! (At least street has real holes!!!) Matching gazebo and animal print panel??? Matching trailer - I do admit I like that idea and it can sometimes work well - here well it's just what it is and fibreglass buck on a old trailer bed Quite liked this cos the front treatment looked like it should have looked ex factory Saved the best to last (if there can be a best out of this lot) I thought this was on the right route............ But what the hell do I know

Er yeah, they were all gross! The last one was ok i spose. I think i'll have to show them how its done wont i! I'm guessing that the average PT owner (not you Ged) has only ever owned sensible cars until the PT and therefore think they are suddenly a bit different for buying one. Perhaps it will take someone who's been doing traditional customs for some time to do one the right way. I can see why they don't like satin paint as most still have nice shiny factory paint jobs and it seems a shame to cover it up. I do hope the PT owners club don't try and talk to me, i don't think we'd get on!

This is the only one Ive ever seen that I liked! Roof chop, air bagged and on 22"s and 18"s. And no stupid bumper throught the front grille.
