For sale is my '96 Golf Estate. I've owned the car since 17/09/2011. I have recently bought a 3 door MK3 Golf TDI and am in the process of transferring my private plate onto it. Once all the documentation has come through, then the estate will be available to sell.
Details are as follows:
1996 MK3 Golf CL TDI Estate
Dragon Green
77000 Miles (will rise slightly)
MOT expiry September 16th 2015
3 Former Keepers
Price:
SOLD
Bad points:
All arches have started to rust. At the moment it's not structural, I've ground it back and painted it with matt black paint.
Engine emits a puff of white smoke when initially started after sitting for a long time. I believe this to be a leaking injector as it doesn't smoke when running.
The tracking is out, pulls to the left slightly.
Bodywork has age related marks, the most noticeable being a scuff to the corner of the NSF bumper. Also, there seems to have been a repair to the rear tailgate at some point.
Exhaust rattles on the rear heat guard, it requires adjusting as it's done it since I put the CAT back on.
Clutch sometimes sticks down, I believe it needs bleeding. I've developed a temporary solution of putting my foot under the pedal and lifting it up.
Engine & Gearbox:
EGR removed and blanked off
Suitcase silencer replaced with straight through pipe
Upswept Exhaust Backbox
CTH gearbox 70mph = 2500rpm.
Genuine 50mpg from varied driving with 3 years worth of fill ups to prove.
Cam belt changed at 42409 miles on 29/02/2012 (receipt to prove)
Regularly serviced by myself with genuine filters and Halfords 10w40 Part Synthetic Oil
Recent new battery
The gearbox is smooth (for a MK3) and it goes into every gear. It crunches into reverse like every MK3. However, if you put it into 2nd before selecting reverse, it will stop it from doing so.
Suspension:
TA Technix Estate Coilovers
Recently new front wishbones
Recently new Febi top mounts all round
Recently new front discs and pads fitted
Coilovers were greased and taped up before fitting to ensure they don't seize as fast. They are wound pretty low and give a rather firm ride.
Wheels:
MK2 GTi 14" Meshed alloy wheels
4x 185/60/14 Yokohama BluEarth tyres
Wheels have been sprayed black, not the best finish but they are all straight and true.
Tyres have got plenty of meat left.
Exterior:
Colour coded bumpers
Colour coded wing mirrors
USDM Wing mirror glass
Original dealer number plate surrounds
Smoked Front Indicators
Smoked Side Indicators
Interior:
Drivers Airbag
Power Steering
Manual Windows
Heated Rear Screen
Heated Mushroom Leather Front Seats
Vento Mushroom Leather Rear Seats with Head Rests
OEM Rubber Mats
Highline Centre Console
Leather Handbrake Lever
Highline Wooden Gear Knob
Kenwood CD Player
Rubber Boot Tidy
Full Size Spare Wheel
Wheel Jack
The leather seats are in fair condition, they have a fair amount of scuffs and marks. The heated function works perfectly and is lovely this time of year. I've used the car to move house, transport car parts and tip runs. So it has the various marks and stains to show from it.
Spares included:
Decat pipe
Colour coded side strips (need painting)
New OSF Pattern Wing
New NSF Pattern Wing
New OSR Pattern Arch Repair Panel
New NSR Pattern Arch Repair Panel
Last MOT advisories:
001: Offside rear (to flexi) Brake pipe slightly corroded
002: Rear (to comp) Brake pipe slightly corroded
I've been as brutally honest as I can with this car. It has ran and ran, with minimal amounts needing spending on it. The car owes me nothing and is a genuine work horse.
