Essex 3 litre V6 Wont rev when cold and backfires like fook Idles 100% A little better when warm 6 new plugs, no better Leads all ok Dizzy cap a little worn but clean New fuel filter Brilliant spark at points Annoyed owner Flying tools etc etc.....  Any help would be greatly appreciated before many more tools go flying down the street. |

CONDENSER!!!!!!!
shouldnt be a brilliant spark at the points, and the symptoms are classic. Change the points and condenser as a set, shouldn't cost more than a tenner....

agreed, slap a set of points, deefinately a condenser and then some new plugs on it, clean the plug wires to remove any carbon dust as this can also cause similar symptoms, the get the strobe out and retime it.
should run like a new motor then ;D
