For Sale is my 1991 Volvo 480ES 1.7
116, 000 miles.
Has just sailed through an MOT with no advisories.
I've personally known this car for about 15 years.
It belonged to one of my Dad's work collegues. He bought it in 1997 and I believe was only the third owner.
Unfortuntely, his Dad had become ill with cancer, and the car had been laid up at a local garage due to corroded brake lines.
I bought the car off him, and set about recommissioning it.
GOOD POINTS!
12 MONTHS MOT - NO ADVISORIES!
LOADS of history, old MOT's, receipts etc (one for a very expensive cylinder head rebuild).
Even has the original Volvo handbook and folder, along with BOTH keys!
FULL LEATHER UPHOSLTERY! This is a really rare option - I've never seen another one.
Front seats should be heated, although they're currently untested.
BRAND NEW BATTERY - 3 year warranted replacement battery
GOOD TYRES - Two Yokohamas on the front, which are very recent.
The tyres on the rear were badly perished, so I've fitted some 'new' part-worns from my local tyre centre.
CENTRAL LOCKING
ELECTRIC WINDOWS/MIRRORS
GLASS ELECTRIC SUNROOF
POP-UP FREAKING HEADLIGHTS!!!!!
PERIOD CLARION CD/CASSETTE RADIO - the previous owner fitted (what at the time) was a very high end Clarion ICE system.
It comprises of a drop front cassette receiver head unit with a glove box mounted CD Autochanger. Sounds great!
BAD POINTS
INFO CENTRE NOT WORKING - 480's had a very cool combined digital fuel/temperature/trip etc. gauge unit called the
'Info Centre'. Unfortuantely they very rarely work - this one is no exception.
I'd be very tempted to fit some traditional analogue gauges in the centre console.
CRACKED WINDSCREEM - there are two large cracks at the passenger side of the windscreen. These are not an MOT failure point
Most likely something you could have done under your insurance policy.
NOISY WATER PUMP - the water pump sounds like the bearings are shot.
I have a BNIB replacement which will come with the car.
SLIGHT LACQUER PEEL (see photo)
BOOT GAS STRUTS DEAD
SAGGY HEADLINING.
These are now PROPERLY rare cars, which is why I saved it from going to the breakers.
I've been driving it around for the last couple of days, and have had people stop and ask me about the car.
When did you last see one?
If you'd like to come and see the car, please drop me a message on here, and we can take it from there.
Cheers, Bob.
