I have a home-brewed electric fan set-up on my Merc, which uses a thermoswitch from an OHV Escort. However, it kicks in a little bit hot for my liking and was thinking about alternatives. I know Kenlowe kits have an adjustable thermoswitch, but at £50 it's about double what I spent on the whole set-up! Are there any other options? Can I modify a standard thermo switch in some way? Or do they make the switches in various temperature settings (maybe for hotter / colder climates)?

Or do they make the switches in various temperature settings (maybe for hotter / colder climates)? Yep - when I first put the Monza back on the road with a 24V lump it ran a lot hotter (too much in traffic) I took the old Electric fan switch down to my local motor factors and said need a cooler one - 3 mins rummaging and bingo one that cut in 5 deg earlier and problem solved

I've always used an adjustable controler from SVC. scroll down in this linknot completely budget I know, but at £24 its cheaper than £50 one you found. like BC says, try the 'factors first for a different temp switch.

Thank God I found it, a few years ago I had the same problem and surfed around and eventually found this link www.suzukiclubuk.com/elecfan.htmlWhich indirectly leads to this site uk.farnell.com Where you search for 560250 which costs £12.86 (plus vat and postage.) Been fitted for a few years in my car and working nicely. Cheap enough to be worth it.

cheers madmog, i needs one too, mines on a flick switch on the dash and its a pian in the keeping an eye on it in traffic, although i must admit the car behaves itself miles better temp wise since the new engine went in. hardly need the fan at all in normal driving.
