So it seems the lowest I can possibly get my car is a lousy 40mm, I need lower than this. There seems to be no shop that caters for coilovers, so my only alternative is spring cutting Is this not advised, I don't really know the ins and outs of it so enlighten me please... The car is Hyundai S-Coupe. Thanks

Dez did a cracking good thread on this a while back but my seach-fu is defeated trying to find it.
Basiaclly some coils can be cut safely, no problem. Others either need some more thought or shouldn't really be cut. Are your springs vertically alligned and of uniform width?
Alternatively you can get custom springs made.

I was just going to buy some new springs, as in some 40mm GMAX ones and then get them cut. don't really know who could do this mind? Do you know who does the custom jobbys? Thanks

coil springs in sheffield 01142 758573 made me a set of 3 inch lowered ones for my benz, they still weren't low enough so i lopped a couple o' coils off them. ;D good service though and not that expensive.

I haven't ordered them yet till I know about the lowering situation! Same with the tyres, not sure what size but they have to be fitable for garages! Thanks for the links to the place in Sheff, will ring them tomorrow!

i've used 'springs 2000' in sheffield 3 times now . 01709 375375 ask for Tony.. Spoke to Tony, what a a very nice chap, shame the same couldn't be said about the guy I spoke to at coil springs. Anyone know the best way to measure springs, do I need to find someone with a pit or is achievable with the car on the ground?
