I bought this in February of this year. I put it through an MOT in June or May. It currently has a slight knock on one of the suspension springs which will sorted prior to sale. It has Astra Sport Recaro interior, new shock absorbers, brake pads/shoes, and Vauxhall tow bar and roof rack. It runs fine and took me to Germany (twice) and back with a diversion of 2000 miles. There's nothing wrong with it - it's been a proper workhorse with a few dints and dents and has done me well for 8 months. It can also run on 100% vegetable oil - I've done this three times, but really don't have the time to source cheap oil and have stuck to diesel. Currently taxed if you want to drive it home.

Hello David, got any old MOTs to prove a mileage? Is any gas at all blowing tnrough the oil filler? How are the jacking points, sills, arches etc, photos please. Is the suspension standard springs, , the front looks low? ( could just be the photo) V5 in your name? Smoke when starting from cold? All gauges and heater working? Warning lights? Tyre type and treads? Heater working? Power steering leaks? Clutch pedal high? Can you list the could and bad points please, I'm interested (already have 2 Astra estates) cheers Jerry

Shouldn't you be looking at 10k cars? Sorry to crash the thread, but the older I get, the more I can't get my head around the mentality of some people and their expectations of dirt-cheap cars. OP - good luck with the sale - it looks a proper bargain!

LOL Thanks, I have to agree! I bought the car as it was languishing in a pub car park for sale. The interior was damp and grubby. I changed the whole thing with a mk3 Sport interior. Mileage is 150,000 (20k of which I have done myself). Everything works! The driveshaft clicks, it's had a new gaiter and grease inside, but now clicks quieter. The clutch pedal squeaks also. All mk3 Astras do both eventually (I've had seven so far). I've changed the oil, etc and serviced it, which is all these need tbh. The onus is I keep the wheels currently on it, it'll come with the standard Vauxhall 14" ones.

It's your age.
I understand where you're coming from. Here it is from the other angle. You take a day off work (self employed) to view a car. You get there and realise the car has four illegal tyres and no heater. The seller also has no V5. Being of sound mind you leave it. You've now (in my case) lost £185ish in earnings to NOT buy a car for £300 ono... because you didn't ask basic questions.
As I say, I know what you're saying. But on the flip side, you don't ask questions like this if you're not interested. Take it as buying signals.

Funnily enough, I bought this car self employed, it had four bald tyres, and no heater! There's no harm in asking questions, but it's probably not for you. Every car purchase is a risk, you either go for it or you don't. At £325 it's pretty cheap (there isn't an 'ono' though).

My life experience (due to my age) tells me that I would be best assuming that a £300 car is potentially going to have issues. The seller on here has been on the forum for years (as have I) and is clearly very honest and selling a proper bargain motor. I just don't think it's relevant to know the manufacturers of the tyres fitted, and whether the heater control illuminates at night. I'll be quiet now. Good luck OP - hope you sell it to a realist.

I have to agree with radiodanno here - I ask the same sort of questions before I go to buy a car no matter what the price. If I can save myself a trip for the sake of typing a few questions then why not? Either the seller wants to sell the car and has nothing to hide so answers the questions, and I feel better about the person I'm buying a car off, or they can't be arsed and I decide they aren't the kind of person I want to do business with. And to be fair, £300 is a lot of money, takes me a week to earn that. Far too much of this recently, people being flamed for asking relevant questions. It isn't even your thread... Edit: OP, this is in no way a dig at you, car looks a bargain and having had a Corsa with this engine I can vouch for their ability to drink rapeseed happily, and surprise people at the lights with a tweak or the fuel and boost. Sorry all have been busy with work. Spring is still knocking but safe, drivers window needs a new arm as it slips out of the runner! I've since sorted the boost out and it now runs amazingly.
