have owned and cherished this car for the last five years. I think its time to let it go now. The car has won awards and even been featured in BMW car magazine, will be sad to see it go, but a new track car project forces sale. I am not going to write war and peace, so I will keep it brief, (if you want to know specifics about what has been fitted / done then see the list at the bottom), I bought this car as a standard 316, it drove ok but it wasn't much fun to drive.
Last year I completely stripped the car down to a shell, fixed the rust and then did a ground up restoration. I had the 2.8 24v engine tuned up and the car is hysterically fast (easily if not better then a e46 m3), makes that distinct BMW straight six noise - handles sublime thanks to the expensive suspension / bushes and the quick rack, its not bad on juice either and even the emissions are lower then the standard 1.8 engine it came with.. and most of all its all reliable and doesn't need any work doing to it at all.
Please don't assume there has been any bodges, there are NONE, this car has been beautifully engineered and all the best parts have been fitted. Number plate can stay on for an extra £500 but I don't mind transferring it before sale if it isn't your thing. It doesn't take long.
Car is based in West Yorkshire, has MOT till Feb, I am the 7th owner (in 30 years) and the car has travelled approximately 95k but then again mileage is irrelevant on a car this age, you should be buying based on condition.
As its been restored less then 12 months ago - passing the next MOT shouldn't be a problem, as every nut bolt, grommet, bush, fuel / brake line, bulb, has been either replaced for new or uprated part. I don't even like to think about how much it cost but it easily owes me a lot more then the asking price.
If you have any questions then please let me know. First to come and see it will probably take it, as there is little chance of the person being able to go home without it after one drive around the block. You really must stand in front of it to really appreciate it,
I **WILL NOT** take offers over the phone or email from people unless they have come to see it first.
