########S O L D########
1964 VW Beetle De-Luxe.
RHD English car.
Tax Exempt.
Mot'd until May 2015.
Java Green with original pin-stripe interior.
Last year of the "small window" models.
£5,000.
Car in South East London.
Decent pics will follow (these two I took earlier in the rain with the car covered in leaves & dirt from the recent bad weather).
5 previous owners (one of them being my ex).
Car was on the road from 1964 till 1985 then dry stored until I found it for my ex in 2005.
Car was on 71250 miles when we got it & its now only covered about 72550 miles, as she hardly ever drove it & kept it garaged.
It was taken off the road in 1985 because the original 1200 engine seized when the cooling control bellows failed & the engine overheated.
It WASN'T due to the usual rust troubles these cars are normally plagued with.
It is incredibly rust free & original.
It still wears the original floor pans, original heater channels, all four original wings, etc........
The only welding repairs have been small local ones & all done by me.
The guy we bought it off had replaced the door bottoms, repaired the wing flanges, replaced the engine lid (as he drove over the original one !!!) & repainted the outside the original colour.
This was done in the late 90's & was never polished, so it now has a nice period look to it rather than a recent resprayed look.
What I did when we bought the car was basically take it apart, clean everything, replace anything that needed replacing, put it back together with some needed upgrades & MOT it.
But.....my ex just kept it garaged & hardly touched it in the 9 years she owned it.
Occasionally Taxing & Mot'd it so she could drive it in the school holidays.
The only reason I have it now is because I swapped it for my Camper that she wanted......I don't need it..... so i'm selling it.
The upgrades are all period & all required for it to be a practical daily.......
Basically......
Rebuilt 1300 single port engine.
New Clutch on a 1300 gearbox.
Sway Away adjustable height front beam.
Bugpack adjustable height rear spring plates.
So basically fully height adjustable front & rear suspension with out even removing the wheels.
Fully 12volt converted & with Halogen headlights.
Quickshift Stick.
CD / Radio / MP3, hidden in glovebox.
Thats all the mods you need really.
Car is totally reliable & drives without issues (even for a 50 year old car, this low, in London).
Bodywise its all original with the exception of the replacement engine lid & door bottom panels.
The paint inside, the dash & under bonnet is all original.
All the chrome is the original.
All the wheels are the original & have been blasted & repainted.
All the interior is the original......including the seats, door cards, rubber floor matting, headlining, gauges, switches, everything.
The headlining has started to come away in places, plus the back seat & drivers seat could do with some repair, but its 50 years old.
Under the bonnet is all original including the cardboard liner & dash cover, Original jack, Original spare wheel, etc.
The car came with a couple of unusual extras when new, including The U.S.spec bumpers, finger guards & steering lock.
For safety I replaced all the brakes......thats, shoes, wheel & master cylinders, adjusters, pipes, hoses, etc......
Rebuilt all the steering including a new steering box.
New wheel bearings, New King & Link pins.
New clutch cable, acc cable, heater cables, all bulbs & fuses.
Rebuilt the wiper system including NOS spindles.
New front & rear screen rubbers, Door rubbers,
Basically anything that needed replacing, was replaced.
Comes with all the original keys that all work fine.
Logbook V5c in my name & address.
Reg Number IS transferable (for any Big Block Chevy fans).
Price is £5,000.
Not looking for any swaps or P/ex's as I have too much stuff around me at the mo.
Thanks for reading this loooooooong ad.
Ill get some decent pics up ASAP.
Thanks, Andy.
