Well, that's not strictly true....
I don't go anywhere (not keen on large quantities of humans) but I was offered the opportunity to display my big green thing at the end of season Flame and Thunder show.
With several weeks notice, obviously I left all packing and organisation until as late as possible. MonzaNikki and I packed our hunting sticks and stuff in anticipation of leaving the relative safety of the New Forest cattle grids.
On Friday, we drove up to the frozen northern wastelands of "just outside the Milton Keynes area" and stayed with friends so we could launch an early attack on Santa Pod raceway, approaching from the west at a low altitude and a low velocity sometime around 9 AM (eventually).
When we got there, a nice man who owned this showed us where to park.
A nice, prime spot right by the Grandstand.
Sometime about now, I realised that I am totally useless at taking pictures........
This was particularly nice.
There were many more 60s Camaros than 70s Vauxhalls.
Also, many things of silliness (with VERY brave drivers) that make me want to make something dangerous.
Some things of detail and shine.
Much drag action with noise, fire, jets, noise, V8s and all that goodness.
The venue ran like clockwork, great facilities and plentiful catering, stores selling many things etc, great atmosphere, bit cold but the entertainment was non stop, we didn't get round it all as there was so much choice between aerial displays, copter rides, stunt shows etc. The noise was incredible, especially Fireforce 3 (280mph).
We sauntered back to our Forward Operating Base and after refreshment started the trek home (not feeling brilliant due to F-bola).
Green car was absolutely 100% perfectly reliable (95% of the time) and according to my mostly faulty calculations, seems to have done 44mpg.
We had a small problem with the cheapy rubbish points getting hot and messing about but I fitted a fresh set and we're sorted, landed on a speed bump so hard I thought the exhaust would come through the floor, just holed badly.
This may be the last outing for this car and it was a real adventure (I don't get out much). The opportunity was too good to miss really, so glad we did it.
Biggerer and badderer for next year!
