Just collected this beauty My beautiful pair Interior isn't awful So what have I got? A pretty sound chassis, A sound body bar the hole at the back (despite appearances) Ok interior (perfect headlining ) A seized engine, Partially seized bonnet and fully seized boot hinges, Fairly original wiring, A whole heap of patina And probably some curse word off neighbours Anyway, straight off the trailer it went and the work began. All plugs out and some oil down the cylinders. I'll see if I. Can un seize it over the next week or so after I get a good amount of something down the cylinders. Is it redex that is said to be quite good at this or something else? I know diesel is supposed to work but I haven't got any diesel containers to go to the petrol station with. In its home now (well, hotel probably as the parents aren't too happy with it ) The aim is to turn it from looking like this Into something like this Not sure the neighbours will like it but never mind

I hope the neighbours hate it. More reason to leave as it is! Get some more moss growing on it.

Another one? It does make mine look quite presentable. Can I have the rear seats?

That looks very rough, but sounds a lot better. I love those back seats, the centre armrest is inspired! Can't wait to see how you get on.

(This is a few posts put into one as I forgot to update this thread) Another day, another bit of sanding done This morning has seen some progress - wishbone bushes fitted and all the drivers side suspension together again. Just need to get the box of split pins from the garage and put the new TRE and drop link on. The cars now back on the ground so it can be rolled around. The engine is no longer seized either a week with cylinders full of diesel and a turn of a socket and it spins. If the weather wasn't so bad, I'd go the garage to get the compression tester. Work on the wiring began today. I traced what's original and what isn't and made a start on cleaning it up. My initial aim was to get the ignition circuits functioning but I soon decided to just do the lot I took the fuse boxes out and have cleaned all the wires going to the top box. Most of the wiring is original and in good condition. There are a few repairs but they were done so badly it'll be a piece of cake to sort properly. The car also has a later starter motor with a solenoid which is nice. Cleaned up quite nicely with some kitchen cleaner The fuse box plate was taken off and stripped and painted in stonechip and the fuse boxes are currently soaking in bleach although I might try and buy new ones if they're available? I also need some screws to attach the boxes to the plate so I'll try and get some at the NEC. I took the windscreen and dash top out to help get to the wiring behind the dash which also looks largely original The carb has been stripped, put in the dishwasher and all the main carb parts are now cleaned ready for the rebuild kit - I just have to clean the screws that will be re used. On the bodywork, the roof is now mainly stripped of paint, so now looks better.

I would say looking good but i'm not sure about that to be honest. ;D
Progress looks good. My battery tray is cracked there too.
You've got it prepped quickly. Did you have much crazing/cracks?

Were the two pics earlier meant to be the same or is it some cruel trick for the visually impaired I'd l;ove to see one of these done in some sort of super saloon homage but slammed on modern rimmage (goes off to google to see if it's been done.) Good progress though, will keep an eye on this one.

Good progress, keeping the stock lump for now? Thanks. Yeah, I'll keep the sense for now. I have a few engine swaps in mind but my money is currently going into getting the car working and getting the yellow one more refined so it can be used daily when I pass my driving test I would say looking good but i'm not sure about that to be honest. ;D Progress looks good. My battery tray is cracked there too. You've got it prepped quickly. Did you have much crazing/cracks? There's very little crazing but some general damage to the gelcoat. This will be easy to sort though and it'll be done around the primer stage Were the two pics earlier meant to be the same or is it some cruel trick for the visually impaired I'd l;ove to see one of these done in some sort of super saloon homage but slammed on modern rimmage (goes off to google to see if it's been done.) Good progress though, will keep an eye on this one. Haha yeah, the original pictures were intended. I changed my mind though so now the car is going to be painted. You mean something like these ones?

I need to see that car in the flesh. I was at one time planning to fit a Volvo T5 lump to mine to create a Scimitar ST5 (see what I did there) but gearboxes are very hard to come by. In the end I was given the engine and gearbox I am now in the process of adapting to fit (once I have shifted the Escort and got my new arrival back on the road.
