can i ligten bits like the fly myself?
got some caustic soda to clean the head right down then i can finish it off and put it back together and crack on with building a manifold

You really want the maddest head you can find. The bottom end is fine on crossflows so I'd say leave it well alone, but they really like to breathe. If you want to build a screamer a stage 3 head for a 1600 will be ported like the maddest screamer race head you could use for the little 1100. Then you want to put in a cam like a Kent 244 (3K to 8K), Kent 254 (3.5K to 8.5K), Cosworth A5 or A6 which are older style grinds but all top endy. Would use ARP bolts in the bottom of an 1100 because the pistons are heavier and the caps have a habit of shearing off with the added weight.
I wouldn't lighten a flywheel yourself unless you know what you're doing. When they fly apart they make a right mess of your feet in RWD and will tear through the whole car in a FWD, so take too much off in the wrong place and you're waiting to die.
To raise the compression you'll have to use different pistons because I think the 1100 ones come all the way up to the top of the deck and the head is flat bottomed if it's a Kent crossflow. Valencia might be different.
Along with heads you can pick up ultra light flywheels for next to nothing on eBay.

valencia has a chambered head are you sujesting putting a 1600 head on an 1100 :S i know they deff wont fit as trhe x'flow and valencia are different someone was selling a 1300 cam for a mk3 fezza ages ago and reconed it would fit a 1100, bit sceptical about that one wow thanks for putting me off lightening the fly and do you think you can get ARP bolts for 1100.....this is where it gets expencive and i give up and just lightly tune the 1600 for the time being I'm just going to port the spare head out to the max standard valves and cam then custon manifolds and the bike carbs

Yeah sorry I thought it was an 1100 crossflow. The heads are completely different, crossflow has a flat head.
You can get all those bolts from Burton Power but you're probably looking at £60+ for the set. The 1600 won't need them but the chances are they are the same as the Valencia ones so you can probably re-use them anyway.

As its 1100 its never gonna make much torque so imho i'd make it rev like curse word.
