Hello folks, quick one. The new numberplate requirements says everything should be in the new style font which is more narrow (presumably for ANPR purposes). As I understand you can't legally make the old style plates anymore, though they are legal to have on your car as obviously millions of cars still have them! My chum has a mid 90s Alfa with the old style plates which are looking really scabby now, however he doesn't want the new narrow font because it won't look right. For lack of a better image, I mean these sort: As I understand you can buy this sort of plate from Irish-based shops online, does anyone know such a supplier? I'm sure I found one months ago, but struggling to find it now. Ta!

Yeah I know A-K was after the Serck ones, and I wouldn't mind some too. Well if the veedub boys can have German look, why can't we have early-80's-UK-look?

One wuick tip, if you do find places that can and will still make older plates then keep it quiet about exectly who and where they are, i've heard of the powers that be actually going about confiscating the older style machines and supplies to stop them being made.

^^^^ what he said! PM us - especially if they can do the Sercks paltes, I am getting desperate! Need to put the car back on the orad and the current Fake States Plates are an embarrassment and somewhat illegal. One or the other I can deal with but not both. "Rockin My Life Away" My big fat hairy sack
I also wold like some "pre legislation" flat plastic plates doing, like the OP, but want to make sure they will be the older wide letters not the new narrow ones. Let us knopw how you get on... I had a new on on the Mazda when the old one broke and it looks wrong. The rear is going scabby too.

The fella I bought the car off had 200+ feedback all for the purchase of old 1950s rock & roll records. He has a jukebox in his living room and was 60s, white heaired and looks like he owns a cowboy hat. Got my cup of tea in a "I  Orlando" mug. That sort of thing. Nice bloke and all, really nice bloke, don't get me wrong but the other plate reads "Living for the Music"
And the front ones are white & Blue which I'm amazed never got me a tug before.

My local motor factor makes the old style plates, providing you ask for "house name signs". My house's name is F203....

Does he still make the Serck font ones, thats the "robotic" or "futuristic" font you got on pressed alloy reflective plates, usually seen on Mk3 Escorts, Mk5 Cortinas, Rover 213s, Mk2 Grannys, that sort of thing...

These are undoubtedly the HOLY GRAIL of reg plates.
Whoever discovers a supplier of them is automatically elected forum person of the year, no questions asked.

OK, had an Email back and the answer on the 1990s plates is a yes. You know, for putting on your shed or something. £24.99 a pair.
Nice work and will let you know how it goes.

Yep I had you in mind when I saw them AK, was gonna let you know when I made sure they were the right type I'll pop down there later this week and confirm that they are indeed the 'robotic' type font on pressed steel, pretty sure they are, amongst others.

There was a firm advertised on PC that did the black and silver pressed alloy plates. Not sure of they did the newer yellow/ white plates though. Ill se if I can find their web page.

Yeah I've seen reflectiove versions of the black & silver pressed plates. A few places do them but with the black & silver basic font. I've sppoken to them and they've said no. What me and the testicular one are gagging for is a specific style of plate with a specific font which was only done for a few years in the 1980s which is called Serck, although I would settle for one of the clone ones which were out at the time. Pilock seems to be able to tell the difference at 50 paces but I'm not quite so pedantic.

Street - I'll love you forever if you come though for me I wouldn't say I can spot them at 50 paces BTW, but I definately know exactly the one you want - the image I've got in my mind is a metallic blue Mk1 Sierra on a 'B' reg wearing them. No idea why, that's just the image I get!
