I had a Honda Stream (3 wheeled moped) with similar problem after standing. On stripping down the engine I found the piston rings had stuck in the grooves so whilst it's start and run for a few seconds I assume when things started to warm up and expand then it lost enough compression to run. My advice, therefore, is to do a compression test. With twist and go mopeds there is no way of manually disconnecting the engine from the drive. If the engine is running and you rev it up then the back wheel will turn. This can also happen if tickover too high and the centrifugal clutch engages. The centrifugal clutch has springs that hold it open so doubt it would have seized / rusted in the closed position. It's many years since I had a Melody so can't remember exactly how the drive works but some mopeds don't even have a centrifugal clutch - they rely on the drive belt freewheeling on a bearing in the centre of the moving drive faces and if Melody has that system then the bearing could have seized. Maybe getting a workshop manual to assist in how it all goes together might help you.

Can't help with your problem but having a Melody brinks back so many happy(ish) memories, the best one being fitting a 125 engine all was well until the brakes couldn't cope one night. the fun of being a careless reckless teen.
