it looks better placed in your pic there, than one carb halfway serving six.
might run a bit funky with a carb serving 6 because of the distance travelled to the front and rear cylinder.
pros of going 4 carbs, 1300 quite common engine size for dmtl source-age. might be a mare to balance the carbs though having 4 linkages.
cant think of many domestic carbs that would serve up 2.6 - 3 litres, maybe dgas from ford source ?

Why not fuel inject it with megasquirt?

There was a chap on the HAMB who made his own FI system using pretty basic bits and home made ITB's. Cant help thinking that this might be easier, about the same price and a more simplistic to tune. Or.. Could you not use the Jag FI set up? Either way, love your build. P.

Second Weber arrived... I've checked for under bonnet clearance and there should be enough space to get normal pancake filters on the top of them. I think I've found the jetting I plan to use. But do I go under at 1300cc per carb totalling 5200cc or over at 1400cc totalling 5600cc for a 5340cc engine? Maybe rolling road setup with spare jets. Linkage wise I'm thinking of have stainless ball joints between pairs then throttle split into two with adjusters on. Chokes could be problematic but it's not like they are used for very long. Keep the advice coming it's all good stuff

A bit late but you could have gone over to LPG using 2 blos carbs mounted to the throttle bodies

2 two barrels feeding 6 cylinders should run well - certainly better than the Strombergs! I ran 2 two barrels (34 DGAS) on my Rover V8s on home made manifolds.

for linkages - I'd be tempted to simply use a cable per carb, then joined to a small bar. Then use a bmx front bike cable (which splits into a Y joint cable) to pull on both sides of said bar, to pull all 4 cables at once. For adjustment, just use the simple adaptors used on pushbike brake handles, to push the cable sheath in/out. 4 cables, one bar with 6 holes drilled a bmx cable a simple steel bracket to hold it all simples

Gone a bit backwards today or at least feels that way. I've taken off the Strombergs and the exhausts. Found the issue with the noise difference side to side. No seal from manifold to down pipe on one side. You can see where the suspension rubs on the pipes and the heat wrap is torn. All of this to drop the engine down 20mm which will allow the Weber's to fit under and not through the bonnet. So now I need to remake the exhaust, might make them longer with bigger silencers.

Quick bit of fettling this evening. Got a new old bonnet. So called razor end with no spare wheel dip. Gives me loads of room to get the carbs under there. Had to cut the support frame out of the front to clear the radiator and a chunk out of the back to clear the brake servo. Need to make up some bonnet pins. Quite unbelievable is the colour and patina match perfectly!!

I assume you've not driven this much but what is fuel consumption like?

I assume you've not driven this much but what is fuel consumption like? Appalling... I put 10l in and it was gone after a short drive and some fun revving the nuts off it...

Been super busy at work and endless decorating the house. I don't recommend having a baby, refurbing a house and working 50hrs a week. But I've managed to continue the stock piling of parts. Most recently this... That's right I've decided to bin the leaf springs and bolt on a xjs subframe, v12 will sit lower meaning more space for velocity stacks, powersteering and it might even stop with discs!!! Before I can embark on this I'm going to knock down the garage and build a much larger workshop to do it in during the long winter nights. Fun fun fun.

Good plan on the Jaguar front subframe, have you considered fitting the rear irs off a Jaguar too? They come with a nice selection of ratios and with optional lsd's

Joined this forum just so I can follow this great build. I have been toying with a LR hot rod for many years now and just love this V12.

I built the 1st Jag V12 engined Land Rover way back in the 90's, that used the Jag auto box connected to a series 3 Land Rover transfer box giving normal 2wd on the road and it was modified to allow changing into 4wd at up to 50mph and back into 2wd while still on the move. it was built on a modified Range Rover chassis and looked standard from the outside, made a great Q car for the traffic light Grand Prix, surprised more than a few hot hatch cars.

A superb build, the jag irs will transfom the way it drives and you get power steering as well. If the quad carbs become a problem the eary xjs efi is a pretty simple if old fassioned system, from memory of mine all you need is the control module, map sensor, injector resistor and throttle pot plus injectors etc and pump (range rover efi should work fine) and away you go.
