ive done some work to my mk2 golf and changed alot of the brakes over , it has an ajustable bias valve on the rear which the manual says use special vw tool to set up
anyway ive been test driving it and ajusting the valve
what should i aim to get with a fully working non abs system - zero lock up on the rears or rears locking up after the fronts have ?

rears do around 30% of the breaking so you only want them to lock if you really stamp on them , backs are only really there to slow you down,.

Best bet would be to take it to a testing station and get it brake tested to see what's doing what.

Find a small MoT station and offer them a few quid to check the brakes while you adjust the valve. Rears want to be around 100 to 150 KgF on the meter, healthy fronts on a golf will be around 220-280 before locking. You don't want a situation where the rears lock on the road, especially before the front does...

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

I would say, the rears should not lock at all,

I would say, the rears should not lock at all, Depends on the set up, I've had a few that lock the tears due to weight transfer
