I would try having a look at magazines or adverts from the period to give you an idea of what was flavour of the month at that time. I find choosing fonts hard work, have got at least a 1000 at the moment, and sods law says I still can't find the exact one you need when trying to re-create something.

70's era was hand lettering and screen printing time - no fancy vinyl cutting - you might not find an exact match online in computerised format.

There is a font identifying website where you can enter details of the font eg serifs and get a list of the fonts it knows with those features.

The person you are probably thinking of was the one who did the artwork for Frankenhealys Goddess - which was to my eye just about spot on with the types of fonts used
