Good points:
Right, this is my second attempt at selling the Polo, I bought the car way back in 2007, sold it for a year in 2010, bought her back, and have had it on the road for the last few years with a massive smile on my face. Reason for sale? i need a bigger car, I knew this day would come and frankly I'll probably offer to buy it back again in a couple of years.
The car has had numerous updates over the years, brief summary of the last 7 years...
Its got an ABD engine with Weber DMTL carb, made 85bhp when it was built in 2008.
close ratio 8P/CEG/CWX gearbox
Koni Yellow dampers, Eibach springs 60/40
GM 256mm brake conversion
14" BMW Bottletops and Dunlop tyres all 6mm+
Mk3 GT Interior and black vinyl doorcards
Nylon ARB blocks
Rev counter clocks and red strip trim
Bad points:
So, awesome 25 year old cars don't come fault free at £500 these days. 2 noteworthy issues, the bodywork is getting tired and beginning to need some assistance, n/s door and wing have some crispy patches appearing, o/s wing and front panel are bent from a slow speed shunt and the rest of the panels feature a car park dent or two.
Secondly the engine, although still strong, has begun to burn oil, something in the region of 1L per 1000miles. It has been like this for sometime, i just keep it topped up fortnightly. My diagnosis is valve stem seals, however you'd need to get the head off to see whats going on in there.
It needs someone to spend the time and money that I just cannot spare at the moment. Jobs, houses, girlfriends, etc all get in the way. Come and see it, poke around, drive it, i'll be happy to answer any questions.
