so chavs stole the girlfriends car today, at half midday, on a busy street. i don't get it, they wer seen doing it by the old couple across the road who then told the polic, i wasnt in at the time.
but i don't understand why they would steal a car in the middle of the day, they cant exactly go joyriding, and the roads are stupidly busy today.
anybody know what happens insurance wise when a car gets nicked
p.s. people in sheffield keep an eye out for a mk3 fiesta, blue, k reg with drivers window smashed and a couple of scally pricks in

so anybody know what happens insurance wise when a car gets nicked If its a Third Party Fire and Theft or Comphrensive policy then the insurers will pay out the 'market value' of the car. For an early 90s Fiesta that will be around a few hundred quid. If its Third Party only then you have lost the 'value' of the car. You have to report the theft to the cops in order to claim. They will give you a crime number which the insurers will need. The insurers will presumably allow some time for the police to look for/find the car before a payout. If they have paid out to you and the car is then found, it's the property of the insurers at that point, although some (e.g. classic car) policies/insurers allow you to buy it back.

the car is back, well not quite, but the police found it, so just the matter of waiting till monday to see the damage and getting it all sorted.
in a way it would of been better if they crashed it or burnt it because then she could have got some money out of it, but now she has to pay.
she is insured fully comp but is a named driver

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts
