I know, I know it's 3 years too new for this section but then again the Avantime isn't your normal boring modern is it? Think of it as the 21st Century Talbot Tagora

Price: £1995
MOT: June 2015
Tax: Oct 2014
I bought this Avantime after a miserable few months with a BMW E60 520i as I always wanted one and during the few months I've had it's been fantastic. The new (and boring) car is here so it's time for it to go. I've done 4000 miles in it in the last couple of months and only replaced a strut top mount and fitted a new set of spark plugs.
It gets more attention than my old super low, super cool SD1. Mostly bafflment about WTF it actually is.mind you.
If you don't know about these Avantimes they only sold around 500 of these in the UK and there's only about 5-6 of them in Scotland.
They where built by Matra rather than Renault themselves so are a bit better screwed together than other similiarly aged Renaults.
This car is even more unusual as it was painted in Monaco blue from new rather than an Avantime factory colour as it was part of a fleet owned by a computer company (google taylor made Avantime). If you see one this colour it's a Taylor Made fleet car.
The interior is half black leather and it's in nice condition. It has the glass sunroof and pillarless electric windows, electric mirrors, 6 speed gear box etc. Everything works other than the aircon and the rev counter back light.
The bodywork is in good condition as you can see from the pictures. There's a few blebs on the aluminium roof bars but other than that it's really nice.
Because it's light because thanks to a lot of the bodywork is plastic it's quite sprightly and averages between 30-35 mpg.
The car's done 86,000 miles and importantly for one of these has had timing belt and tensioner done at 72,000 miles.
It has good service history and has obviously been well loved.
The MOT is until June 2015 and the Tax is until the end of October (if you're fast).
It's a really nice example of one of these at a fair price. I've been using it everyday to drive from Troon to Glasgow and have driven it all over Scotland in it and it's been 100% reliable. Parts are easy to get as the running gear is from a Renault Espace
I'll be sad to see it go but I can't justify another car I can't have on a classic policy.
