Hi guys,
Looking to insure a van I am about to purchase, a 2002 Vito. I am not using the van for work but I will be commuting in it. Has anyone had any really good quotes from certain providers.
Cheers
Tom

No such thing as cheap van insurance. Even me (retired civil servant, rural area, low miles / useage intended, full no claims, no accidents, private use only etc) couldn't get anything other then normal (commercial type) insurance on a Peugeot Expert I bought. Cost for one van was more than I pay for the two other cars together ! I did find, however, if you PROPERLY convert to a camper then premiums go down substantially.

My old man uses a company called 'E van' they seem quite cheap for him. He pays less than 400 on a 53 plate Vito. I see that as cheap

If you convert it to day van spec it'd be in the region of £200, my old X reg T4 was day van spec agreed value of 7.5k was £180 with no limits on mileage. My full camper T5.1 is £280 and is worth considerably more. all done through Adrian flux.
when I bought both vans i was getting ridiculous quotes, near a £1000.... however Adrian flux came to the rescue with a policy strictly for vans in conversion. Definitely worth giving them a ring and asking what the basic requirements are. I would also ask what is required if changing to MPV status.
(this may or may not help given that with the number of passengers going up so could the cost in the event of a claim)
Thing is by leaving it empty, any insurer will just turn round and say that you have the ability to load lug at any time for commercial use.

The guy I bought my transit from had a policy through justkombis (or something similar to that) with the transit down as going to be converted to a camper at some point, it was very cheap.
