One of them won "Best Golf" at DATP07 on sunday, very expensive car in its day according to the owner. Its a MK2 GTI with 4x4 under pinnings I think ;D

One of my "head builds" is a Mk2 G60 with Syncro running gear... Country Syncros are cool, I don't rate the rims on that top one though!

Now a Golf Syncro I actually quite fancy

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

They're crazy, mechanics wise. The subframe at the front is dropped down to give the ride height without spazzing up the CV joints, so it looks like the engine has fallen out when you lift the bonnet

Then you`ll be wanting a G60 Syncro then ;D VW did one in germany, there are a few over here now They have Rallye running gear, which is like syncro only slightly beefier Rallye is 3dr and box arches, all other Syncros are 5dr Best of the best and rarest is the Golf Limited 16v G60 Syncro, grey or black 5drs with Blue GTI stripes ;D

You wouldnt believe how cheap G60 Syncros are in germany (Passat G60 Syncros too!). It'd be rude to spoil a nice UK GTI by converting it when they're sometimes around 1000 Euros !!!

Damn Volkswagen, always stealing my ideas... next you'll be telling me they've got hold of my plans to build some sort of camping wagon with an engine cooled by air, mounted in the back, which (if my calculations are correct) will gain massive cult status in 40 years and be worth much dollar. ;D ;D

Hmmm, They look fresh, Mk2 golfs are often GTI stylee, 'dubber style' like low customised wiiide wheels, or 4 door bangers, but to see on up in the air and ready to show some x5 how its done i like. the shape loks right jacked up on big tyres. so yeah cool. However if i did have bags of money for summat like this it would be a close race with a Transporter sadly i don't Sulks Oooof thread request!

Ooh yeah, these are brilliant. I think they were made because of demand from Bavarian farmers or something equally obscure. From Wikipedia: There was also a version called Golf Country, designed for light off-road driving. It had more suspension travel, four-wheel drive, bullbars (generally over a single headlight grill), a skidplate for protecting the engine area, and a spare wheel mounted externally on the back. In Europe it was offered with the acclaimed 114 bhp 1.8 8v petrol engine, and in smaller numbers, the 75 hp 1.6 GTD turbo diesel engine. The Golf Country was particularly popular in Alpine regions in central Europe.I do adore those Transporter Syncros too, despite the mega overhang at the front they're very capable off-road as they have diff-locks on both axles. There was an old promo video on youtube which was brilliant but I can't find it now.
