I remember that stand ..... I was there with my then Boss and trying to persuade him to replace my soon to be retired cavalier with a 320 . No joy , but he replaced his Granada with an 535 ..........He was a great guy though. Thanks for posting the photo. No worries, would love to see more motor show pictures from the 70's/80's If anyone has any.

Sorry to go slightly 'off topic' but...
I too would love to see more shots of UK motor shows, that just doesn't seem to be that many anywhere...!!!
With regards to the shot of the BMW stand at the Scottish Motor Show that is just superb!
I can't imagine that any of those cars exist but I bet they led a good life when they were on the road!!!
Oh for an e23...!!!

I used to have a couple from The Kelvin Hall in '83 ( I think ) showing the new Manta 400 perched at a frightening angle on the Opel stand ,interestingly I was offered that very same car in '94 before it went to Aberdeen. I'll look through some old boxes in the loft but a divorce , three moves around Scotland ,then to London and then over here may have rendered them " missing in action " .

Are those new(ish) TRX tyres on those? if they are and they don't sell, keep me posted as once i've sorted my suspension i'd like a nice set of original wheels for shows and what not, esp if they tyres aren't a thousand years old and brittle

This looks nice, get those chrome arches off and a set of original alloys on it and it'll be a stunner. Seeing how it's a 1970s car I think we can on this occasion allow the chrome arches. They kind of go with the chrome mirrors and chrome wheel trim rings. My 1981 728i had the same set up. I did upgrade it to the 14" BMW Alpina style alloys. Wish I'd kept the steelies and trim rings. What a car!

Nice to see an E23 receiving a very thorough going over. Is the engine out for some work or just to paint the engine bay?

The head gasket is toast so the head's off to be skimmed and pressure tested. I had no end of cooling issues last summer and it culminated in losing multiple litres of water per hour! The block is still fitted. The engine bay maybe quickly blown over but I think I will address the engine bay properly another time.

the doors look to be in fabulous condition. E23 doors can be real rust magnets

Interesting. Auction estimate of £1750-2250. This car was being touted at around £3250 a while back wasn't it? Lets hope that a genuine enthusiast bags it to enjoy owning it, rather than yet another dealer/speculator who will put it back on sale at £3250 again!

I'll put this up here incase anyone has 'contacts' ive missed on the facebook e23 group.
I need a chrome centre section for a facelift front bumper. Just the centre chrome, unbent and preferably not on its last legs. Willing to pay fair money for a good piece to get my car looking nice again.
