Lovely to see the GH in a huge barn. I have barn envy now Are those other barn cars your own hoard or stock for sale? I have a small dealer ship with around 30 cars in a 3,500 sqft barn. They are predominantly high spec BMWs, Audi,VWs and hot hatches i.e cars that I like are the cars I sell type thing. Lurking in the back ground is a 1994 BMW M3 S3 3.0 AC Schniter- a genuine Rossiters built car that has a very interesting past. Just behind that is my brother DAX Rush 3.5 V8 that he is taking an eternity to finish. I will keep you posted Phil with what I decide!

Thanks for adding to the E23 tally on here Gringo. The graphite looks like a nice original one, do like a series 1 on the 14" turbines.

Going to be interested to see your progress on this and which one get cannabalised. I love a series 1, gotta make do with a series 2 slowly being backdated one bit of trim at a time lol

I love a series 1, gotta make do with a series 2 slowly being backdated one bit of trim at a time lol Series 1 and series 2 E23s are two very different animals. The whole personality of the car was changed, not just a few bits and bobs. I've owned two series 1s. Weirdly, both were Opal green. 728iA and 735iA.

I went to the Anglia auction today to potentially buy the 735SE. It may have only done 22,000 miles but to be honest, it looked much higher mileage. In my view its more of a restoration project - from the green gunge round the windows it has spent a lot of time outside and its pretty tired under the bonnet. The rear seat base appears to have been recovered in similar to factory cloth but it lacks the pattern of the backrest and the bases of the front seats. It needs a lot of work to bring up to decent standard in my view.
Does anyone know of any nice 735SEs for sale? In the mid '90's I ran an '83 735SE - SJI2240 - I think it was Opal Green - and loved it.

Hi Andy, Did it sell or get any bids? A chap went to see it when it was for sale a while back and came away very disappointed. He said it was worth under £1,000 as a project. My own 735SE is a 1985/B in Cosmos Blue over cream leather. It has a moonroof. I've owned it for 10.5 years, time flies. It is most definitely NOT an A1 example more like a much loved old 7 with "character" . You will find E23s advertised on ebay, car & classic etc but speculators are now asking silly money for anything with an MOT: madly priced Opal Green CLICK HERE!

When I'd seen the car and it wasn't for me I left. The results will be on Anglia's website later this week if it did sell. angliacarauctions.co.uk/en/classic-auctions/results/ I don't know what the reserve was but as it was estimated at £2,500 - £3,000 I guess the reserve would be well over £2,000. I wouldn't have wanted it - in my experience its an uphill struggle to turn a car like that into a nice one and its far better to wait until a nice one turns up.

It didnt sell according to that site, 635csi went for 1500 and is probably the more desirable car even though at that price itd be a rusty heap

Did the auction house actually see the car before estimating it at 2500-3000? The most perfect A1 E23 will not exceed 2500, and that is per BMW club guru Andy Everett. From your description £500 sounds more realistic. You are correct, it is a huge uphill struggle to turn around a rough car. Far better to buy a nice one and then improve it.

Bare as a bone, no performance. I would think rich collector would want top range example for £15k
