I was always under the impression that having passed my test after 1997 I could not tow.
How ever after checking the DVLA site it stated that a catorgary B licence includes:
Does this mean I could tow a trailer? Ovbiously not a car transporter or anything but just one for lugging parts and going to the tip?

yeah i thought that was quite obvious to be honest, don't need a special license to tow a small trailer, as it says up there

To tow a bigger one you only need to do a "transit test" i.e with a tranny van and trailer, meant to be a piece of wee. You could tow car transporter then*
*Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

you are correct you can tow a trailer but in theory you could tow a car transporter also. The wording of DVLA stuff is weird BUT. If the trailer is small ish and the car is small ish so say they only come to 1300 kilos then as long as your tow vehicle was rated higher than 1300 kilos then it all adds up to less than 3500, your legal. Thats how it works And yes if you take the trailer test (it doesnt need to be a transit) any tow car and trailer of suitable type they will pass you as trailer safe easily.
