BMW E30 318i Touring in alpine white with 11 months MOT and 5 months tax.
it has the M40 8 valve 1.8 litre engine and 5 speed manual gearbox, producing a whopping 115bhp. it is an ideal starter rear wheel drive car, and has waaay more grip and handling than power, so you wont be likely to get the rear end out, unless it been raining. It is a fun car, suited to B roads, what it lacks in power it makes up for in MPG, and lower insurance costs.
Overall in reasonable condition, the paintwork appears original, and polishes up quite well, it had all the jacking points welded for this years MOT, I did it all in August prior to retro rides, they are now all solid, but would benefit from grinding down and a bit of paint, etc over the top, as I didn't have time to make them pretty looking (MOT was the day before the show). the interior has a saggy headlining, that has been sorted by the previous owner by stapling the headlining back up to the roof lining, its crude but effective, and gives a home made upholstered look to the interior. (it actually looks pretty curse word, but unless you are lying down looking up it wouldn't bother you too much)
It comes with an original fitment Westfalia detachable and 'invisible' tow bar, these are particularly rare and are valuable as an item on their own. ( I used it to tow the trailer tent to retro rides this year.
Things I have done to the car prior to MOT.
fitted new rear shortened shocks
fitted new 60/40 lowering springs
changed the timing belt
fitted a cone type inlet filter.
fitted a new distributer cap (these are REALLY expensive)
new front anti roll bar drop links
engine oil service
painted the centres of the 15" BBS cross spoke alloys orange (the centre caps are also painted but not fitted as the fitting mechanisms on them is busted, and were screwed into the wheel centre.
steering boss kit fitted wit ha deep dish smaller diameter wheel (gr8 4 driftin)
removed the rear silencer and installed a stainless steel rear box, it is quite loud, and to be honest needs the rear bracket shortening to stop it vibrating on the rear of the car.
some of the issues I know exist with the car.
rear wheels need balancing
front lower wishbone bushes need replacement (new ones are provided with the car)
front anti roll bar mounts are worn and need replacing (again new ones provided with the car)
rear disc pads are very low and should be changed.
heater fan does not work - not looked into what the issue is.
the tyres are all low on tread and could do with changing, in the next 6 months they are 205/50/15 I think.
front passenger side brake cooling duct is the wrong colour, and the fog light blanking plate is missing, and there is a dent in the valance.
Its not going to get driven any time soon, and I need the space back to get on with the other cars I have to get sorted.
PS the number plate on the car is non transferrable, and I haven't been able to find out why it has a D registration on it? - the V5C does not give any clues, but it all checks out OK.
please PM me for contact details.
The car is kept at my lock up, and not at home, the lock up is just outside Romsey which is in Hampshire, in the southern most part of England. the nearest train stations are Romsey, Totton and Southampton. I can pick you up from any of these, or even Southampton air port if you prefer (flybe run domestic flights from there)
The car starts stops and drives fine, I drove it to Retro rides without an issues, and that was towing the trailer tent. I would happily drive it anywhere.
thanks for looking Dave.
