My plan of keeping this and selling my mk2 has not gone well due to a time water, so I am letting my recently purchased 205 xs go instead. It's taxed, mot'd until jan and I have the log book so it's all ready to go.
Below is the shamelessly copy and pasted ad I bought the car from last month. pictures are in the link.
Please call 07798 515817 if you have any questions!
Here i am selling my absolutely beloved Peugeot 205 XS 1.4 Manual petrol i am a massive 205 enthusiast and since getting this car from Brighton back in 2009 as a blue smoking wreck no expense has been spared to turn this car into the solid trouble free motor it is today.
So this car was purchased from a student in Brighton back in 2009 and was abit of a wreck mechanically after driving it no faster than 50 all the way back to Chester it was stripped down to the bare guts with the aim in mind to tun this car into a Rallye/Hillclimb beast! having owned another 205 1.8td at the time this seemed easy. So the XS was stripped of engine, suspension and as you can see from the pics the original vacuum sun roof was removed and plated along with almost all the interior all that remain inside the car now is seats the dash and door cards.
The engine was completely reconditioned including extensive head work done by a very good local garage, all belts and tensioners were replaced and water pumps and the engine was given a lick of paint on the top a new breather filter and a oil pressure plate for the stackk gauge inside the car, the Carbs were cleans and rebuilt to exact specification, while everything was removed from the car all welding work was carried out to the underside, all the sills were treated and all areas of the underside were rust proofed, stone chiped and or painted with hammerite to keep the nasty stuff away. The car had its rear beam completely rebuilt and Gaz adjustable suspension was fitted all round, brake calipers where rebuilt and new brake lines fitted throughout the car allmost every wearable part was replaced to ensure this car would last for years to come and so far its done just fine!
The car was put back together with every bolt accounted for and everything torqued to just the right setting, it went off to the rolling road where the carbs and timing where tuned and the car given a clean bill of health and was kicking out the factory 85bhp more than enough for this lightweight chassis.
Since moving down south and selling my other car due to getting a work car with the new job hence the move haha I have had no issues with the car bar changing the battery and alternator best thing about this car is the cheap parts!! oil has been changed at all the correct intervals if not before and i have always used Shell 10w-40 Part synth which is perfect for these cars, The gear box was also rebuilt by specialists and oil has been changed in the box regularly. Car has been used mainly for weekend outing and recreation the odometer reads 118k but as its not the original and with the car being overhauled id say the mileage is closer to 40k as i do cover around 10k a year in the car. It was never used for Rallye or Hill climb like i intended but sadly the interior had already been removed and scrapped before i relalised i didnt want to race it.
The car features stackk gauges inside for voltage, Oil temp and oil pressure and a Pop off OMP steering wheel for extra security.
So problems with the car? well for me there is not issues but if you are looking to buy this car and put some time into it here is a list for you
Rev counter does not work - Needs the connector plugging in
Body work - a couple of small dents and scrapes
ReSpray - Faded patches lacquer peal and rough areas.
None of the above effect the car in anyway other than cosmetically or if you have never owned an old car before without a limiter. To me she is perfection because i take her for what she is a 20+ year old pug that i use during the weekends. Now then onto the good stuff she is Taxed and Mot'd until January 2015 last no has no issues obviously and nor will the next other than you might need a new from wiper but as there is only one (Mclaren f1 style) its not an expensive issue.
So why am i selling?
I have moved to an area of west london and because of where i live i am only permitted to have two cars parked in the underground car park 1 being my work car and the 2nd currently the Pug but i have been bitten by a Porsche bug and now it seems i have to go out and buy a 944 and i am simply not aloud the space if i had the money to rent a garage somewhere and store her for a good price i would and she would go on to being my sons first car but sadly I'm inside the m25 and its damn expensive!!!
No Advisory's on the last mot since the rebuild only issues i have had is battery alternator and i replaced both wishbones
