Hi, I am hopefully going to get round to refurbing the Cosmic alloys I bought before xmas in time for the summer shows, got some brand new centre caps Just got to polish and paint them. I could do with some tyre advice though, the Cosmics are 5.5J and 13 inchers. The wheels on the Viva at the moment are 13" weller steels either 5.5 or 6J I think and the tyre size on them is 185/70. So do I stick with 185/70 R13 tyres which look ok on the wellers but look quite tall or do I go with some lower profiles and have some of this stretch thingy? Where would the cheapest place to get some be as well, not many places seem to stock 13 inch tyres nowadays Ps Original factory tyre size was 155/80R13

I see, the difference between factory tyre size and current tyre size is -11% so at 70mph indicated I would actually be doing 68.69 which is ok as I don't mind it under reading.

Here's some 175/70's on some 5.5" Cosmics for you 175/70 is pretty much identical rolling radius as 155/80. While not Cosmics, these are also 5.5". The rears are 175/70 and fronts 165/70. Those sizes should be available easily from anywhere We just paid £120 ish for the new decent quality set in the last photo. I wouldn't be too concened about teh accuracy of your speedo. It'll alter a little if you have a different size tyre but then who said it was right in the first place? Just make a note of what speed everyone else goes past the speed cameres with out getting flashed

Cheers Seth, those 175/70's look fine so I will get a set of those I think I said they were hard to find as I was checking a website that didn't seem to have any 13" tyres on, but yeah they should be readily obtainable

Oh yeh you want 165/60s too Under reading means that the speedo will be reading faster than I am actually going, Ie the speedo reads 70 but I am doing 65 is better than the speedo reading 70 but the car actually doing 75 as I don't want to get a ticket I think we are both making the same point though I always get confused here actually, is that under reading or over reading Lol 165/60s would be 8.65% smaller than stock tyres so would undergear it quite a bit, would help acceleration though I guess

IMO 185/60s were made for these rims 175/70s should do the trick.

(i.e. speedo says your going faster than you realy are)
