I'm replacing the whole standard exhaust that is rotten with a complete new but still standard system.
I bought the whole thing incldung the what appears to be a soft metal sealing ring between the standard manifold and the downpipe.
The thing is, although it slips in nicely on the downpipe, it doesnt seeem to match up with the manifold. Its the same single circle shape but its like trying to match 2 male connectors up when the manifold should be female and the ring male (Weird way of putting it but the best i could do).
I got to think that maybe the old sealing ring was still stuck on the manifold and have been trying to screwdriver and chisel it out. Its not moving and am now scared that i might be wrong and am chiselling chunks out of my manifold!
Is there a sealing ring still on the manifold? can you send me a picture of that end of the manifold without a sealing ring in it so i can check I'm not being a total idiot?
