The martini carrodo thread reminded me of a citroen BX that was local to me around 7 years ago that was done in a rally style but with MANKINI wording in place of MARTINI. Any way as these things tend to snowball my failure in searching for a photo of said car resulted in me thinking I've not seen any of these on the roads for years, standard or modified so further googling lead me to the following photos. First up, with a common RR cyclical google in an image (presumably photoshopped?) by octagonalpaul...

Sadly that was pretty much as far as it went but seeing a few photos of both standard and modified versions has added the car to the list of "pretty much non-descript in their day but something special now" for me. Unlikely I'll ever actually buy one but will keep my eye out for them on the roads and future shows. Thanks RR forum for leading me down the path of discovery.

I've never driven or been in one, but that shape is just incredible. A brilliant design

I had a 16Valve as a company car in the late 80's, I don't think they were ever that non-descript they always looked different to the Sierra's, E30's etc. It was one of the best cars I've had, good for both being a hooligan and for long distance jaunts. I had one behind me this last night on my way home from work and a different one following me this morning. Owned one in briefly in the mid 90s after numerous arguments about how my Audi Coupe wasn't a practical family car, so sold it and bought a 3 year old BX diesel estate. I hated that car with a passion and it turned out so did she, so three weeks after purchase it was swapped for a MKI Golf GTi Funnily enough as much as I hated that car, I've fancied another one for a few years now...

I have had a BX 16v gti and damn they are fast when you hit the loud pedal In black with all the body kit - spent a heap on replacing the all the suspension pipes spheres etc.. only car I ever had which could wheel spin in 3rd gear at 30 mph Love another one. Bit scarce on the ground now methinks

Drove afew diesels back in the day, love them. The ride quality is superb and the sports seats are awesome. The brakes take some getting used to though..either off or 'throw you through the windscreen'

Yes indeed first time I drove that BX the owner told me about the 'stern' brakes I just nodded and drove away, came to a junction and by the gods nearly lost my lower set of teeth against the darn steering wheel as I braked they ARE either OFF or ON !!
