EQUIPMENT
Louvred design radiator grille, storage compartment under rear-floor, laminated windscreen, bright waist rail and door frame finishers, bright bumpers with black inserts and overriders, two speed plus intermittent wipe, tailgate twist-lock, tailgate wash/wipe, detachable rear parcel tray, illuminated glovebox, additional sound insulation, heated rear window, perforated headlining, Quartz clock, loadspace carpet, cigar lighter, illuminated interior controls, Ford P21 push button radio, centre console. Factory options; passenger door mirror.
EXTERIOR
This beautiful and rare surviving mid-range Fiesta is finished in gleaming Ford Terracotta (code D0) and showcases a deep lustrous and uniform shine throughout. All factory fit panels are pin straight with linear gaps and there is no rust or corrosion on the vehicle whatsoever. A finely detailed underside and engine bay with factory stickers remaining complete the show car standards of this wonderful example. The unmolested appeal of this special vehicle is accentuated by standard trim sections, mirror finish bumpers and GL specific decals all present, correct and in remarkable order. Supplying dealer number plates, tax disc holder and rear screen sticker remain fitted! A true testament to Ford’s beloved first generation Fiesta, wonderfully preserved.
INTERIOR
The spotless interior of this remarkable example is in pristine original condition and exactly as Ford intended. The original Chocolate Windsor fabric seat (trim code P1) is immaculate and free from tears, rips or discolouration. The matching loop pile carpet and vinyl door trim sections are clean and free from any wear and the perforated headlining is mark free and fully intact. All switchgear is fully functional, and the soft finish dashboard is perfect. The standard Ford P21 push button radio has been reinstated but not wired up. The original trimmed parcel shelf is intact, straight and complete with the correct cord hangers and even the Ford colour name sticker is affixed in the boot!. A Ford Fiesta Club GB windscreen sticker highlights the enthusiast ownership of this truly cosseted example.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The time proven transverse mounted 1300 OHV engine produces a spritely 66BHP which in such a lightweight and nimble car offers lively performance whilst returning a frugal 44.1 mpg. The engine is wonderfully quiet and smooth thanks to a lifetime of fastidious care and maintenance. The standard specification automatic choke is present and correct, and operates perfectly. The four speed synchromesh gearbox with remote shift and self-adjusting clutch is light and exact, a joy to use.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Five factory original and unrestored 12” x 4.5” pressed steel wheels with GL specific chrome embellishers are amazingly well preserved with only the faintest age related markings. Branded matching 155/80 R12 tyres have masses of tread remaining and the pristine spare wheel with brand new tyre sits in the spotless lower boot floor housing alongside the original jack. A Pirelli Cinturato P3 tyre has been retained should the owner wish to place back as a spare. The dual line servo assisted brakes with 8.7” front discs and 7.0” rear drums bring the car up to a steady, straight and assured halt.
HISTORY FILE
This delightful example was registered new on 5th February 1982 by Ford Main Dealer Potters of Framlingham and has had just four former keepers. A Ford Price Guide from the time of purchase illustrates a price new of £4810.52 plus the optional extra passenger door mirror at £12.72! The comprehensive history file further consists of a collection of service and maintenance invoices throughout the cars history, as well as many previous MOT certificates to fully support the genuine low mileage of 26,333. The original Ford Car Owner handbook, operating guides and dealer locator booklet remains along with three sets of keys on the supplying dealer key fob! Sold by KGF Classic Cars in August 2014 we are honoured to have this iconic Fiesta in part exchange against another Ford.
Finally three copies of Retroford magazine from August 2012 boasts a six page feature on this very Fiesta and tells the story of a previous keeper, David Ford (apt name!) and his quest to find the most original low mileage Fiesta he could. With this fantastic example, it is clear that he very much succeeded in this challenge!
