I was reminded of the existence of these trucks when I was in Morocco last week as there is a few of them knocking about over there doing sterling vegetable carrying service. I used to have an early 80's bedford range brochure with em in. They are pretty oldskool - chrome bumpers, rain gutters and the like. I thought they stopped selling em on about a B reg, turns out the last ones were F or G reg, then the more modern 'Brava' truck took over, this is the one popular with the AA. Anyway I am experencing a brief pang of lust to own one, however I have not seen one for YEARS. I thought they must have all rotted away to extinction like those old Mitsubish 'sigma' pickups. Yet, a quick completed items search on the bay turned these up: cgi.ebay.co.uk/BEDFORD-KB-26-DIESEL-PICKUP_W0QQitemZ190108920396Looks in good nick, F-reg, sold for 550 notes. cgi.ebay.co.uk/ISUZU-KB-PICK-UP-BEDFORD-BRAVA-DIESEL-TAX-MOT-1-OWNER_W0QQitemZ150119600467This one is a total honey, again F-reg, sold for £900 so far from a giveaway like but a nice old truck. So there must be a few still in circulation if 2 have been sold on here in the last month. Anyone seen any around lately? The older the better.

My old man had one just like this years ago. Its the vehicle i did some of my learning to drive in. Column change FTW! Got very sideways very easily in the wet. I reversed it into a shop window because i misjudged how long the overhang at the back was. I was doing a three point turn and had intended to just roll back until a wheel hit the kurb. the bed went through the window before that happened. He lent it to a good friend of ours whos sex shall remain undisclosed. While driving it along she (oops) started to hear alarming noises comming form the engine. Her choice of remedy was to turn up the radio. A few miles later it stopped working. When my dad investigated the problem he found a rod through the block and a camshaft lobe resting neatly on top of one of the engine mounts.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I'd completely forgotten about these, quite a nice design. A builder local to me had one, it was white and lower on chrome Weller 8 spokes, i think the pick up bed was longer than the ebay ones. I havent seen it for a few years now so i presume it gone to the scrap yard in the sky, shame cos i was thought it looked pretty cool.
