I also decided on the new colour for the car. I remembered a TF i'd seen previously which was a metallic red so I looked into what the colour was.
Turned out be the faited colour for the car is the name of the colour is Firefrost!!! With my surname being Frost and the car previously setting on fire I thought it had to be that. Got myself a couple rattle cans and set about tidying up the engine bay. Cleaned all the extinguisher powder off and gave it a damn good steam clean before wire wheel fun! Covered in red oxide primer, then 3 coats of grey primer, 3 coats of colour and 2 coats of lacquer. Only a basic paint finish so that I didn't have to remove the engine again for paint so didn't have to be a show car finish!
Managed to spend a little more time on the old thing after work over the past two evenings. Managed to sort wiring out so it is back working as it was before the fire, so the starter motor is working fine and I have spark from the ignition. Also getting some oil pressure too(eventually)!
Hopefully tmw I can tackle wiring in the ecu and potentially the fuel pump. Need to sort a temporary fuel hose system as I currently only have the earlier fuel sender unit and I need a later one to allow for the fuel return!!
Could be getting closer to the first fire of the new engine though! Fingers crossed!

Ok help needed!!! Before I lose my rag with the damn thing and set fire to it deliberately!!!
I've got the hi-pressure fuel system all plumbed in (temporarly to get it running), got the ECU wired up and got the engine static timed as best I can, but it won't start!! a few exciting splutters but then nothing!!!
Checked for spark and it was very weak so I cleaned all the plugs, fitted new coil, new leads and new cap! Still nothing!!!
Left the master lead of the coil by accident and it was sparking and shorting away quite loudly so there is power there!
I then reattached the master lead to the coil and left it lose on top of the dizzi cap and tried again and it fired up briefly then carried on turning over!!! Put the lead back on the dizzi cap and nothing other than turning over and a slight splutter!!!
I've checked that there is 12v to the coil and to the Luminition module, even ran a separate live from the ignition switch to make 100% and still the same!! Take the master lead off and leave it in arcing distance from the dizzi cap and it pretty much starts running for a second or so!!!
Any ideas what's going on as I'm baffled and rather deflated!!! was hoping to be posting a V8 roaring into life video not licking wounds of defeat!

Another thing to check could be that the fuel lines are connected the correct way round - I had my fuel pump to the return line on a fuel injected Alfa V6 and of course there is a one way valve which stopped the fuel actually getting to the injectors......

Unfortunately that's not the problem. Getting plenty of fuel into the engine! Spark plugs were getting soaked! Think it's something electrical but thanks for the heads up on that! I did triple check as i've done a similar thing when plumbing a sink at home!!! hot in cold and cold in hot!! Doh!

Have you put an OG Rover Distributor cap and rotor arm on? I've seen on another thread that the aftermarket equivalents are a bit rubbish on the RV8 ignition systems.

As far as I'm aware it's an OG cap and arm. One from Paul Deppers and he usually only stocks original unless they aren't available. It's a plain black one not any bright colours or anything! Think I might have to have the electrician come and have a look at it! It sounds electrical to me as there is fuel and compression is good!! I just don't understand why it will try and start when the master lead is arcing but when it is properly connected it doesn't want to know!!! i hate electrics!!!! Cheers for the advice though!! I've heard some horror stories about cheap aftermarket tat!!! Avoid at all costs!!

Not really much to report on here I'm afraid. Had to bite the bullet with the lack of engine starting and it's going over to the auto electrician this weekend for a new wiring loom to be made for the engine bay. It needs it if I'm honest as my very poor attempts at wiring don't do the car justice.
On another slight change of direction, I've been to see a lady at the bank to inquire about a loan to cover the remaining wedding costs so if that goes ahead the Sebring will be staying!!!! WOOP WOOP!!!
Was gutted I couldn't make it to RRG last weekend, but my very selfish sister decided to give birth to my niece on the 1st of Sept last year so had to be back up in Manchester for a 1st birthday party!!! Hopeing to be there next year in the finished Sebring!!

Small update. Finally got the car back to the garage!! Long story! It is running but not great, and will start but then instantly cut out if run with the MAF plugged in!!! Other than it being a scrap MAF I'm a bit clueless to the problem. Managed to start the fab on the exhaust and plumbed up the cooling system but back problems and time are hampering things quite badly!!! It is good having it running/roaring again though!!!
Should have some more footage soon!
Other good news is that the loan has gone throughto pay for the wedding so the Sebring is staying!!! Woop Woop!!! Just need to get it running properly and back home to my garage!!! Fingers crossed not long now!!!

So that would be engine number 2 blown then!!! Poss head gasket, not sure!! Was running not too bad. Thought I'd try and adjust the dizzy to see if the timing was slightly out and then plumes of white smoke from the drivers side of the engine!!
Oil everywhere!!! Awesome!! Anyone good at building rover V8 engines and would be happy to teach an ape like me how to do it?!? I've got two of the curse word things now!!! Happy to pay with beverages and biscuits!!!

If you fancy having a play yourself, I've got a pdf copy of the Land Rover 4.0 and 4.6 overhaul manual I can e-mail over. Should pretty much cover everything. They are a fairly simple engine, just with eight of everything!
