My advice might sound a bit obvious, apologies if it does... Try and make your description as detailed as you can without waffling on too much, theres nowt worse than 500 lines that don't need to be there. Make sure your photos are as good as you can manage, and i'd put on as many as i could. Start the price low, and no-reserve auctions tend to make more money.

Also obvious but use a good title but don't put other cars in the title as ebay always remove these as false description but if it is then rwd and drift always seem to help!

Have the patience of a saint?
80% of buyers will either: a) never get in contact b) contact you, arrange collection, then never show up c) claim that they did not press the bid button, or the confirm bid button, it was their son / mum / cat... d) pay up then not collect for months on end
*shakes fist*

Sell when you can, not when you need to - you always get the time wasting gooners when you really need to flog something asap.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm thinking about doing this paypal only as it should stop time wasters (or at least allow me to not have to worry about people trying to make offers at the door after winning an auction.
Oh and btw I flippin hate that other car in the title thing, so certainly would never do that! all that ford transit, NOT Ferrari, Mercedes, Bugatti stuff really bugs the hell out of me.

Trouble with the Paypal only thing is the fee they'll sting you for when you receive the dosh.

and you can reclaim the money from it. id insist on bankers draft, cleared cheque, or cold hard paper (none of this soggy warm nonsense)

reclaim the money from it ?
I was just thinking it stops people from trying to make an offer after winning the bid.

nah man paypal will rape you. firstly on fees, then if someone reclaims thier money paypal wont help you one bit. even if they do theyll charge you for the pleasure. cash in hand or in the bank is the only way.
a good way to not accept offers when they turn up is to tell them straight up NO. if theyve come a distance they wont want to go back empty handed. end of the day they are supposed to pay what they bid. give the old "oh hahahaha..... no."
they should get the idea.
good pics in a neutral area are good, ie. not a council estate or outside a dodgy looking garage. good choice of a beach or country lane is best.
clear and concise description making light of the downsides but mentioning all of them to cover your back, especially the insignificant downsides just so it looks like youre being thorough. make the good points look amazing.
and add at the bottom - no timewasters, no scammers, no terrorist.
and lastly make it very clear that you will leave stinking negative feedback for anyone that wastes your time, reclaim the fees against them and leave them with a nonpaying item strike - without fail.
that always worked for me, never had a problem, other than offers of crappy swaps.

EBAY AD'S WRITTEN LIKE THIS ARE HIGHLY ANNOYINGJust look at how the "pro's" do it, write a well-formatted easily read advert with plenty but not too much detail. Take pictures of your car in a well-lit and photogenic location, preferably not with a flash on a rainy night in some side alley like many do.

Another point worth remembering is timing it to end at a time where you will get the maximum amount of people watching - thus able to bid. Sunday eve, around 8pm is good.

Spellcheck it. I would never buy a car from someone who cannot spell the features they're trying to advertise.
Oh and use the features that let you round down who can bid, based on their feedback and location. Should save you wasting your listing fee when some numpty in Nigeria hits BIN and then wants you to launder some cash.

What they said, Tell ya what i cant even be assed with auctions that have loads of pre HTML'd general rules. Advertise about teh good bits, the bad bits, and then state you don't want messing about. i'm still debating trader or egay for my next sale....

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts
