This very rare survivor is finished in gleaming Talbot Peony Metallic (Rouge Syracuse) accentuated by extensive chrome brightwork. The polished uniform paint finish is incredible owing to a full professional respray. Structurally perfect this example has led a truly pampered existence and poses as a credit to its former keepers. The chrome bumpers and further extensive brightwork are in immaculate order including the beautifully machined fixed chrome and laminated wood roof rack. All factory fit glass, lights and badges remain fully intact as do the dealer number plates and rear screen sticker. An ideal touring classic preserved exactly is Talbot intended, wonderful.
INTERIOR
The interior of this incredibly well cared for example is spotlessly clean and virtually wear free. The seats are trimmed in Parchment Velour with matching vinyl door trim and contrasting tan carpeting. Only slight stretching to the driver seat material is worthy of mention with all other interior furnishings remaining pristine. The carpeted load area with metal protector bars is in excellent order and appears to have avoided the heavy duties often asked of estate vehicles, although the vinyl rear inner arch liners have signs of repair. The completely intact dashboard and fascia are unspoiled and completely original even down to the factory push button radio and dealer tax disc holder! All controls and functions operate seamlessly and all gauges display healthy readings with no warning lights. A comfortable and spacious interior, ready for touring and classic car days out.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original four cylinder 1598cc engine produces 80bhp and 86lb.ft of torque allowing ample performance in modern traffic whilst returning a respectable 37.9mpg. The engine is smooth and quiet owing to a lifetime of meticulous mechanical upkeep. The four speed all synchromesh gearbox is light and slightly vague, exactly as Talbot made them!
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory fitted styled pressed steel wheels with full chrome wheels covers are fitted with 175/70 R13 tyres with excellent tread remaining. The attractive chrome wheel covers are pristine and free from curbing damage. Hydraulic dual circuit braking system with vacuum servo assistance incorporate 9.5in front discs and 8.0in rear drums to offer ample straight line stopping power.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Chrysler Talbot Main Dealer Russells Garage of York , this example was registered new on 16th November 1979 and has had just three former keepers from new, incidentally being the same person Mr Eric Nunn who is listed as the second owner, his Electrical firm being the first. The previous keeper Mr Brian Watson a friend of KGF Classic Cars purchased the car in July 2014 and being a typical avid classic car enthusiast has fancied a change and decided to opt for a Triumph Vitesse! A fantastic history file with comprehensive MOT history fully documents the incredibly low 60,441 miles covered, and a vast collection of invoices clearly illustrate the cossetted ownership. The original handbook and dealer guides are present and even an original sales brochure comes with the car!
Representing a hugely well maintained and now very rare example, KGF Classic Cars are pleased to welcome back this Avenger ready for the next owner to undoubtedly enjoy the nostalgic attention the car receives and world of classic car enjoyment that it opens up.
MOT January 2016, HPI Clear.
