Trial fitted the interior, again must be close to 2 years since this was in the car! Parts have been floating around in my garage and shed and took some time finding all the parts. It still needs removing and cleaning and refitting, but I needed to check how it all went back together. Yes I know the carpets are dodgy and home made but a new set is on its way. I still have some air leaks, few electrical items to finish, and the dreaded brakes still to sort out. Plus loads of little odds and ends. I do expect loads of teething problems mainly getting the suspension setup and reliable and possible engine bay temps and engine cooling over heating etc as I am still using the S3 rad which I don’t think is going to be up to the job. I see light at the end of the tunnel now and it’s giving me a real boost to get it done lots of car shows coming up! This build thread may look like this was done quick but in reality I’ve been hard at it for near 2 years, spending all my spare time on it. Yes there has been many times I have been really cheesed off with it. Months have gone by and done nothing to it. Had so much hassle on many parts of the build. Many of you have been there too with your own projects………

It looks fantastic mate, I see you got a lot of admiration form stanceworks too, and rightly so, would really like to see this with the silver one having the Alfa v6 install together! Both would be a development of the orginal esprit.

Awesome is a word which does not come close to this
ACME is the only word I could find on google - ''the point at which something is at its best or most highly developed.''
and I think in my lowly experience of life. This is up there with ACME

I totally agree with Fred. ACME. You may have been fed up of your project at times, but what you have done is a modern take on the factory original. You have a classic that is up their with the best modern supercars. This will be a joy to drive and a real head turner. Enjoy it caus you deserve it!

Missed this, but just read through it all. Nice work on the suspension.
I've never really liked the look of the Canley Classics 'Trunnionless' conversion, but I have yet to come up with a sensible solution.
I must say, I'm surprised to see Triumph based suspension on these cars. I'd have thought Lotus would've come up with something better by then!
What are the later uprights like? I'm wondering if they'd go into a Triumph?!?!

I've never really liked the look of the Canley Classics 'Trunnionless' conversion, they are fine as long as you weld the new lower bearing carrier to the bottom arms.... a point that canley do not tell you.

that grey/anthracite interior is great !
the cream and weird coloured ones look a bit too much "1970s sci-fi prediction of space travel in 2050", if you know what i mean.

That interior looks like a very comfortable place to be! Also just noticed, those interior door handles look an awful lot like MGB ones...

it is very comfy, the door handles could be? the outside ones are marina, and I think tr7? and seen them on land rovers! the inside handles have been giving me a lot of hassle they are very stiff and its been a nightmare trying to get central locking to work. I am using 3 solenoids on each door now and even now sometimes they don't lock or unlock!! Charlie if your ready this stop wasting time and get back in the garage!

Hmmm, so probably no reverse compatability there then! RetroWarwicK , yeah, the single bolt never looked right to me, and welding isn't really much use when it comes to changing the joint in the future. Something that will inevitably need to be done at some point, due to no dust seals or lubrication. I shall continue in my quest! lol

the bottom mount wont need changing only the bearing, and that is held in with a c-clip. Agreed its not the best solution but I don't want the risk of a failed trunnion.
