as promised, here are the pics from the weekend at the "Ring". The world series event is also coming to the UK in August (Donington), so definitively worth a visit ... see all pics here : www.youngtimes.de/ws/index.htmand a small selection here : Giulia being hunted by a E30 M3... Had to get used of taking pics of fast moving objects, the later results were better :-) R12 Gordini..... R4 convertible... when did you last see an R20 ? or an R30... very subtle R5 meets not so subtle R17... yes ;D VERY loud Formula One car... a very early R5 with orange plastic interior you must get color blind sitting in this car... loads of Alpines, this is an early, 4 cylinder 3 stud A310... in action.... i have spent all sunday at this corner... and i am a bit sunburnt now, but it was worth it.... and the R12 grows more and more to me.... so, now i am also Ring-addicted, in 4 weeks, there is the 24h race, i think i'll go there....

He he, my faves are those two red R5s. They look great on wide steels. The first one is wearing Mattigs, the second is wearing the French povo spec steels that the R5 turbo came with in France - don't think they were even a cheapo option in the UK. Shame really, they look much better than the alloys!
Also great to see an R20 and an R30.

I agree tarka, those R5s look spot on with the wide steels. I have been trying to find a set for mine. I reckon you're right about those povo spec turbo steels not being fitted to UK turbos as I have came up blank so far. The R5 Turbo cup series used them, although they may have been slightly wider? Probably would fetch daft money if they came up anyway.

Excellent pics MrJ. That early orange Renault 5 is lovely in particular! I'm off to the 'Ring at the end of June, can't wait! I'm sure I saw that wide red Ren 5 Turbo 2 in the 'Ring car park when I was out there a few years ago, looks amazing.

There are a few sets of 13s and 14s for sale on sausage bay at the moment. Just type Mattig Felgen and you'll see what I mean - shouldn't be too dear either.

the R19 16V had some nice 15" steels, which would also look fantastic.... we are going to france in summer and see what we find..... still the R12 is my favourite, but an R18 would even be cooler...

Thanks guys, had a look at the Mattigs, quite liking them. Quite a few at reasonable prices with 4x100 pcd but need to check centre bore differences. I also don't recall the 19 16V steels mrj, but will investigate further. You're right about the R12s, they are very nice indeed.
