The car is in excellent condition throughout, the bodywork is brilliant, there are a few surface dents to be expected (I am sure the bodywork is straighter than the ones that are leaving the factory now!) and a small amount of paint has reacted on the rear door. These are the only imperfections I can think of.
The chassis was stripped back to bare metal and any surface rust treated. The front chassis outriggers were cut out and replaced as required and a brand new rear cross member fitted.
There is a comprehensive folder full of paperwork to prove how well it has been looked after throughout its lifetime. The mileage is around 212,000 although this is now somewhat irrelevant due to the fact most components have been replaced or reconditioned.
The engine and gearbox have been refreshed recently with receipts to prove.
A fully adjustable height tow bar is fitted and would pull large trailers with ease.
The cab is simple and smart, I left the floors bare for ease of cleaning and fitted a really nice pair of black leather seats that are extremely comfortable and supportive even on long journeys.
This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody to get an “as new” defender with the cheaper road tax, insurance and better fuel economy that comes with the 200TDI engine.
The car has been fully restored as a labour of love but unfortunately due to a change in job (and an 80 mile commute) I just cannot justify keeping her. I used the car daily for 2 years and was taken off the road for a few repair jobs that quickly evolved into a full restoration. This is not your average abused farm hack that has had a quick paint job to tidy it up, it is superb and due to the “61” in the registration it is often mistaken for a 2011 car!
The car comes with Tax and MOT till the end of march 2015.
Lots of spares & accessories can be included such as: 2 rear seats, “A” bar, spare bonnet, glass, original sill panels, arches etc along with lots of smaller bits and pieces.
Viewing is strongly recommended, this is a superb car and you won’t be disappointed!
