Thanks for that, Dan. Electrics are my weak point, but the way you explain that, it seems simple.
I've used an ignition-fed source (the ciggy lighter) via a rocker switch, which has done the trick so far. I might look into the VSR idea again now.

Yeah - it's very simple (once you grasp the principle). I battled with my electrics as I made the mistake of starting with a ready done van, and stripped it out and started again - so it was a mixture of their unknown wiring, and my wiring, so it caused a lot of head-scratching. If you haven't already I recommend www.sbmcc.co.uk - There are a few old farts on there, but in general they're really helpful, and someone always has the answer, as there are a lot of experience self builders on there.

Hi, i cant see a total costing did you do a total costing for the transformation not incuding the cost of the van as i am trying to work out how much it would cost to convert my renault master too?

Can't tell from the pics but are Renault roof panels seams exposed inside? Sprinter ones are: moisture creeps into them, rot starts and blows them apart. Easy solution is to seal them all up when the vehicle's new.
That Rockwool in the ceiling will cause problems at some point, because of the air spaces around it, the roof panels and condensation forming then having a hard time evaporating. If the internal roof panel seams are unsealed the partially trapped moisture will effect them more rapidly. It's to do with the dew point. I put some Rockwool in van rear doors to quieten them down, they rotted the panels out in a few years!
It is avoidable, with a solid section of insulation (sprayed on) from the underside of the roof panel - so no air cavities - with a minimum thickness of three to four inches to prevent condensation forming inside.
Vans are difficult to insulate effectively, particularly if there is a lot of glass.

Cheers for the interest, chaps. I do appreciate I'm being non-retro on this thread. More pictorial progress. What's this all about? Can I ask if the picture above shows the original handbrake in the "ON" or "OFF" position? I'm trying to fit a swivel to a 2012 Master and it hits the handbrake even when it is "OFF". I need to be able to drop the handle down lower than the standard "OFF" position - will this part do that?

Hi imac,
that's exactly why I fitted that replacement part. Even with the standard handbrake off, it got in the way when attempting to swivel the seat. The new part has the handle in the horizontal position whether it's on or off.
